Chook

Why on earth did we bring in a couple of VFL players? We completely gave up except our defence. Didn't give a [censored] forward of centre. Deplorable use from inside 50. Vince sucked. Petracca can't use the ball. Jones was good but is a headless chook inside 50. Weideman has the body of a cheese stick. We mentally gave up and we could've won the game with a decent attitude in the 2nd half. That was absolutely disastrous

Are you just talking about today?  (Although even then he didn't do too bad IMHO)

Or haven't you actually seen him play in our other games?

Basically when you have none of your midfield playing anywhere near their best, the team is going to struggle.

Not only did they not play their best. They were all completely off their games.

Gawn, Tyson, Viney, Jones and Vince all had shocking days and unfortunately nobody outside of that group looked like they were going to inspire a comeback.

Fumbly, decision making, kicking. They were all at their worst.

What's been most pleasing over the past month as that when one or two of them have quiet games, at least a couple will bob up.

But nobody did today.

There were plenty of others in that boat too all over the ground, but obviously it's got to start in the midfield.

Thought Hunt was great. Pretty much zero errors, was clean, courageous, won all his contests and his run and carry is like gold.

Disappointing but already looking forward to what we're going to look like next year.

I disagree with this, I believe our midfield was outclassed, it sometimes looks like you've had an off day when your opponent tears you a new one.

We had no answer to Cripps and Gibbs, simple as that and that's why I believe we don't need bit players we need class in the midfield.

I decided to immediately occupy myself with my family after the game instead of hanging on here. It definitely took the edge off.

Given the roller coaster this season has been, it seemed a fitting way for it to die: a bitterly disappointing performance against a garbage team and crushing our dreams one last time, for old times sake. It just sums up 2016 so perfectly.

It had all the hallmarks our usual woeful performances this year have had: Tyson getting caught holding the ball, Kent being utterly horrible from start to finish (how about that kick in to nobody deep forward? That was the point I officially gave up), and our young mids barely touching the ball. The only thing missing was McDonald brothers terrible errors; for the record I thought both where among our better players today.

Despite the fact that by the end I was actually counting on Hogan missing his shots, I thought he otherwise looked much better. For the first time since his injury he looked - and was - a marking threat. Please Jesse and MFC, hire the best goal kicking coach money can buy this off season, and treat it as if you're learning from scratch. We need you to be better than you currently are in this aspect.

It was a disappointing way to snuff out the dream, and pretty embarrassing with most of the footy world paying attention.

What a month of footy this has been. A disappointing way to finish (Geelong to come of course), but I already can't wait for 2017. Bring it on!

Terrible actual but interesting for an "away" game where the umpire awards twenty free kicks to our five to counter our outright favouritism. (Regrettably we never looked like taking it up to them today (and our changes were a mistake))!

Bernie needs a rocket up his ass. [censored] weak and lazy efforts today that resulted in simple diect turnovers.

PD and others (myself included) have been saying for weeks that for a player of Bernie's skill level and experience, he consistently makes mind-bogglingly bad decisions.

I don't think his move to half back has been good for him, nor his Bluey win last year. Big-headed bumptious Bernie.

We have made solid progress Nasher but are still a mile off becoming a solid finals contender subject to the draft. 3 to 4 very solid mature bodied senior players needed.

No more kids unless it's a likely Cyril/Nic Nat/Fyfe/Judd/Danger type please.

We won't improve next year unless we balance the age/experience of this list up at the top end.

I'm going to start by saying I haven't seen the game (can't imagine why I'll chase it up either).

We have made great strides this year, that can't be denied, we've found some players and others have stepped up well. But there are still some big issues between the eyes for the team. Nothing else can explain the losses to teams that are worse than us. Certainly we can't use injury as an excuse this year!

Is this a leadership issue? Is it a preparation issue? Is it poor selection and game plan?

These questions need to be addressed over the off season. I honestly didn't think we would make finals but the buzz that was around Demonlanders made the club feel relevant again. To have those hopes taken away in a must win and should win game is extremely disappointing.

I predicted 10 wins for the year, we've got that so for me the year is a pass. But we haven't turned the corner yet, Goodwin's got a lot of work to do over the summer.

Shame that Roosy's final game for us at the G was such a pathetic effort.

I hope this game wasn't an example of Goodwin's coaching.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
