This is definitely out of the blue and left field. Interesting that we haven't been the only ones chasing him, anyone hear about him at high school level? Was he generating a lot of interest?

I wonder if the fact his brother trains just down the road influenced in decision at all.

Its different, out there, and I like it.

Welcome to the Dees!

(Just to add, you have to believe that his recruitment must have been backed by Cross, not too many people I'd like more to have his support)

I wasn't even aware of that.

Where was that announced? Excuse my ignorance please.

It was mentioned during the commentary by one of the broadcasters. Don't recall if it was the Collingwood Melbourne game or just another Collingwood game.

Can't read the article. Won't pay for a subscription for the scum. What's his background history in footy? How old is he

Just google the article name. You can read any article without a subscription if you enter from google, they obviously want to bring people to the site from google.

Corey Maynard obviously has some excellent AFL attributes, having been chased by at least four other clubs.  His preferred destination is the Dees, which is testament to our Club and where we are now seen to be heading.  I doubt he would have chosen us 3 or 4 years ago, despite the family connection.  Seems like very astute use of the Category B rookie arrangement to me.  Love you Dees!

Seems like most people here have no knowledge of the Category B Rookie rule.

We are allowed a maximum of 2 3, Joel Smith being our current other.

They need to not have played competitive football for 3 years prior to signing to qualify under the rule.

It has nothing to do with H being placed on the LTI list, or any other player.

I was aware of the rule, but didn't know the signing window was open ended. Good news for us.

Thanks Seraph.

I look forward to seeing a Ben Simmons / Thon Maker combo after they have won a couple of NBA rings each.

Actually, I think Delly might make a handy midfielder also. Nice and aggressive.

Just about the best thing about this signing is, multiple other clubs were chasing him hard - the Crows flew out to the States when he was playing college ball over there - but he chose the Dees. #destinationclub

Its mentioned in the Jay Clark article that in his last game he kicked 14 goals playing forward and midfield for Sacred Heart year 10 in South Australia.

The dees plan on developing him into a 191cm powerful midfielder.

Very highly competitive player who was sought out by 4 other clubs but chose the Dees because of the direction and positive future ahead of us.

See what a few wins on the trot against quality opposition can do?

I cannot wait to see how our membership tracks next season. I think we might be about to blow the lid off.

"The Demons had been tracking Maynard for three years and their national talent manager Jason Taylor said his competitiveness is his most exciting attribute".

We have ditched the skinny dweebs for the skew-wiff nosed hard men.

This attitude wins finals,

I suppose the reason/positive from the Cat B rookie is that it's a very developmental position that isn't required or expected to give immediate and tangible results.

I like the sound of this guys attitude though, looking forward to further updates on him.

First Joel Smith, now Corey Maynard. Fair to say we don't mind the basketballers.

*Joel Smith - Australian under 19 squad.

*Jack Watts - picked in Australian under 19's squad.

*Christian Petracca - Australian under 17 squad.

*Corey Maynard - Australian under 23 squad.

Probably more. I think Trengove and Tyson could play also.

Those 4 and then Gawn to get every rebound and we'd have a pretty good team!

Lets get them practising their dunks in the off season :)

Wait what?

How the [censored] does Jay Clark get his info from? Does anyone know anything about him??

Every Newscorp journo gets assigned a wire tap to cover.

Jay must be happy that he doesn't have to listen in on grieving parents for a scoop.

They're all class at the Scum Herald.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
