interesting listening to howe post-match on abc - he still hankers to play forward.

he's a natural defender, i don't know why he's got such a bee in his bonnet around playing closer to goal.

Because it's far easier for lazy players to play forward and have everyone else do the work for them.

Another close game, another loss to the pies ... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ... what a start to the weekend. Could only have been improved by a dodgy late umpiring call but the bugg ers actually called a few late ones for the pies, correctly!

Collingwood is a gift that keeps on giving. There were times last night when they got on top and I thought about their big scalps this year and how they've been lucky to have played against those teams at the right place and the right time. The Doggies have been really in trouble with injuries and were ripe for the picking but they got up ... bless them.

Clear holding free not paid to Pies in marking contest near goal last 20 seconds. Seriously disappointing the way the umpires "throw away the whistle" in close finishes. What? So the rules are optional now?

Were you even watching? Sidebottom was robbed of a clear holding the arm free in the last minute.

Hawks looking good here early against North. 26-0. Let's hope they can really put them away today and even up our percentage.

I know Norf getting belted helps our finals chances but watching the Hawks happy is making me sick.

No, I made it up. I guessed that it was Collingwood and Bulldogs were playing.

Holding off the ball? the umps have barely paid one all season. It's like it's not even in the rules.

Either team winning is a good result. North get smashed and it gives us a finals chance thanks to percentage. Hawks lose and they slip to 5th on the ladder. Both are great outcomes!

So you'd prefer to watch North happy?

I come from a family of Hawthorn supporters so I have had a hard life.

Think of it more that the small number of Nought Supporters are feeling suicidal right now...

Good to see Carlscum getting done by the Lions - put them in a good frame of mind for us next week.

What, total and utter embarrassment? I hate when we come up against teams on the rebound.

Norf getting smashed is right up there with the Richmond smashing dished out by GWS.

Brad Scott eat a bag.

North getting belted. If we can get up tonight we move one step closer. I thought finals this year was 0% chance to happen a few weeks back, but who knows now! KEEP FIGHTING DEES!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
