Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

The don't argues all round were great.

Frost,Petracca,VDB,Harmes.

I liked the way we pushed their weak, insipid defenders off yesterday.

Was a highlight.

That 50 metre penalty against Viney was wrong in two counts, he was already within 10 metres when the ball was marked and he was running to be the man on the mark.

There are BIG problems with this rule which commentators have simply ignored and this is one of them.   Watch any match and you will see multiple instances of that which don't get pinged.  It seems to depend on the angle the player runs in to get on the mark.   Start a bit closer the the player with the ball and a couple of yards to one side and you are OK even though you are within the 10m- sometimes....    In any case 10m is far too much (as is the penalty).

Hey od...

Very reserved in his commentary, but quick summary:

  • said that the game changed since Jack was drafted and the coaches didn't adjust the players to the contested style
  • there were no leaders at the club, hence his development was thwarted
  • too many inexperienced coaches
  • Jack loves the club, but he's quite reserved. CP5 is, apparently, the life of every party!
  • Was ready to walk if Neeld stayed
  • Footy will never define Jack as a person
  • Jack was frustrated at the ball movement...Dawes gets the ball kicked to him on his head and there 3 players on him...Jack is usually free in many instances

Very reserved and measured....

And that he loves the club, only ever considered leaving, if neeld stayed

Jack is quite reserved?

Not sure about that bit? I sat right next to a group of 4-5 Demon players at a Storm game about 4 years ago. Jack was the life of the party in that group. Dancing in his seat to all the hype up music. Chip Frawley & Tom McDonald there also from memory.  He had them all pissing themselves laughing.

One thing nobody seems to have mentioned is the high hit on the Weed from Rioli.  Weed was bent over to pick up the ball and Rioli came in from directly in front and nailed him.  Weed was stunned and would up tackled and the Hawk supporters were screaming for a Holding the ball call.

Incidentally, why were there so many Hawks in the Melbourne Members area?  There were dudes at the gate checking memberships, but apparently they didn't feel any need to actually keep people out.

There were a lot there, but my my, they were quiet, weren't they.

One thing I enjoyed about today is the spunk that they boys displayed. They didn't take a backward step and were handing out their fair share of sledges.
When Duryea dropped that ball near the goal square to gift Tracc that goal, boy oh boy did Tracc let him know all about that? Plus I saw Maxy give Gibbo a cheeky pat on the bum after he gave away that free to Weideman.
Hell, even Jack got back into Mitchell after he gave him that whack in the pack.

Clarry got stuck in to Rioli at the centre bounce after he got shirt fronted, good to see.

Not sure that's a reason to be happy.

Interestingly if you look at the comparison and how we crumbled in 1965, Hawthorn have looked shaky all year and we may have started the end of the empire, we dismantled them yesterday and the result was never in doubt even when they regained the lead.

My most hated supporters and have been for many years.

In other news, approaching the tenth year with my Hawthorn-supporting fiancée, and I finally get that first win since we've been together. Now we just have to beat them in a Grand Final in order to get her to switch sides. Not sure her mob will have a chance over the next 3-4 years to play in too many of those. That cliff is coming up quickly.

You aren't alone. I know someone who works at the G on game days. Said the Hawk supporters are the most arragont by a long way and their grog squad often instigates most of the trouble on the day.

I haven't seen/heard worse other than the Saints when we played em in the finals during Diamond Joe's era. Some of the lowest stuff I've ever heard at the G that night and I was no saint in my early years there ? I remember poor old Gary Hardeman sat near our group one day with his kids. Lasted about 3 minutes ?

I am assuming you are saying this for the bump on Oliver.

if Rioli gets weeks for this then we may as well make AFL a non contact sport, IMO it was a beautifully executed bump, the type I would like to see more of in the game.

there is a reason there were no players remonstrating after the fact, they knew it was a good clean bump

whether it was or not depends entirely on if he hit his head.   I haven't seen the replay yet.  But whatever it was it was not Oliver's fault as those idiot commentators said.

Ran past the ball and made contact with the head.

Looked like he definitely went the man and not the ball, and was pretty high. I only saw it a couple of times though so no in depth analysis has been conducted.

The commentators are stupid to say it was his fault as Cyril's call to bump would have been made before the fumble, but regardless IMO it was not high contact but a brutally perfect bump.

Garland has a few years to run on his contract...he is apparently a very good clubman so will be good for those kids down at Casey...he is now simply a depth player, will only play when injuries require it.

This is from the Age: Shock win over Hawthorn should drive Melbourne to greater heights: Paul Roos

"That's a bit of a reflection of the younger side we've got on the park at the minute, but we've had a pretty young side for a fair duration of this year and been able to cope," he said.

"But today we just couldn't get enough consistent passages to really hurt the Melbourne side."

Captain Luke Hodge had played through a groin injury and Josh Gibson a hurt right ankle, while Ben Stratton had a problem with his left shoulder and left the ground."

Geez Clarko seems full of excuses.

Funni I thought we had a YOUNG side  I must have been mistaken!

Wanna tissue Clarko!!!!

One thing that was nice was the comment by Watts saying that we could break the hoodoo against the Hawks.

For once we backed up our talk with actions.

First time I can remember that happening and Watts played really well to Boot.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
