Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Time to shake things up a bit. Go with 2 rucks and Gawn forward. Let Hogan and Watts roam up the ground more and hopefully get away from McGovern.

Give Dunn a go down back on the resting ruck or Darling. Frost to Josh Kennedy, Tom Mc to the left over forward.

Go back to Bugg and Stretch on the wings. Try ANB, Harmes, Kennedy and Brayshaw through the midfield/foward mix. Vanders is out. Tyson is unlucky to be dropped but he's too good to have 1 tackle, 20 touch games. Time for him to get the message.

Did anyone that watched the Casey game think Weideman is ready for a taste of AFL?

I watched the first half. He took a ripping mark on the goal line that the goal umpire decided he juggled when he was just moving it in his hands. Had a few classy handballs, but otherwise isn't physically ready to move like an AFL player. Hulett is more mobile at this stage and I'd be tempted to throw him in but I'd give Spencer first go. Sure he'll stuff up a bunch but he should be able to halve the ruck contests and cover the ground. Gawn looks in nice touch up forward, may as well give him more time there.

Thought i heard McGoven has a possible broken thumb (in injuries report from match)? Awesome news if so.

Unrelated to your post I liked Roosey's Press conference. It was all about the talent we have and getting games into them for the last 6 rounds. If he dropped brayshaw i would be suprised from what he was saying as an example.

I actually thought he was okay.  They chucked him in the middle in the last and he got his hands on it a bit.  He is a weapon up forward as well with his marking.

I hope Hogan, somehow, gets a fine.

Really? Is the future, but decision making is not always there, plus skills can be poor.....

It's about his development in 2017.

Hogan will be gone for a week. Threw the elbow back and collect Geary in the head. Our forwards were being held all day but the umpires didnt give a [censored].

I dont really blame him.

I'll agree that, at times, he tries to do a bit too much.  Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.  Once he works it all out he'll be pushing off players and making the opposition look silly.  The one thing he does well is that he is always looking to kick.  In amongst the many handballs there were times when he would get it, look up quickly and get it forward.  Wasn't enough of that today.

Still learning for sure, but not cooked.

Surely that doesn't get a week.

If he really was aiming to elbow him he would've dropped him. Throwing an arm back to a guy holding you has to be a fine at worst.

Just saw a reply on the AFL website. Not as bad as I first thought but I think he will still get a week.

The frustrating part is that they didnt call holding the man. They were obvioulsy looking at them.

I would like to know under what article of the so called "Code of Conduct" my recent post to Stuie was removed? It was not vulgar. It could hardly be considered offensive. It was relevant to an issue raised in a number of still extant posts above. It was not a personal attack.

The post (of yours) that initiated that discussion was deleted, and when I do that I delete every response as well.  Nothing wrong particularly with your most recent post, but when you initiate a discussion by calling another poster names (even if you think it is a timid one), expect it and everything after it to be removed.

Thanks for the prompt reply but my recollection is that I said the post or argument was weak. I called the poster by name.

We have to bring in one of Garland or Dunn. They might not be fashionable and Roos might hate them because he didn't draft them, but West Coast is an experienced team with a killer forward line. Somehow I don't trust White, Wagner and Frost to hold the defence down. Especially with the two McDonald brothers being in ordinary form/being way under developed

I've been strong advocates of Garland and Dunn but not sure they can be promoted on the back of their vfl performances today.

This team will probably lose by 80 points, but today's team would lose by 120.

I reckon play all the soon to be delisted and rest the kids.  I wouldn't expect a spirited effort with our best 22 anyhow. We haven't won in Perth since 2004 and we will likely lose by 20 goals.  A defeatist post but we are good at ruining young careers with halfarsed efforts.

West Coast forward line is going to absolutey ass rape our defence.

People said the same thing about Adelaide and whilst we didn't win we were a million times better against them than today.

I'm quite confident that we'll put in a better performance against West Coast, actually. After the Essendon game we had the then 2-0 North and the same thing was being said, and we should have won that game. After the St Kilda game we went on the road to Gold Coast and spanked them. It's common for us to play awfully in games where there is little to no excuse for being so bad and then flip it the following week in games where we get borderline written off because of the prior week's stuff ups.

No way he should be getting a week (or fine) for that. He was being held and was trying to shrug off the player behind. Force nowhere near hard enough to warrant a week.

I disagree, and I'm confident the FD too. No way after 16 games like this we are going to all of a sudden drop all the talented kids in favour of Terlich, Dunn and Garland.

Wrong message to the kids who are our future and wrong message to the supporters, even if that's what your defeatist mind currently wants.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
