Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

An aspect of the game that seems to have escaped DL attention is that Nat Jones plays against little bro Zac for the first time ever  http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-06-17/big-brother-nath-ready-for-little-bro-zak

He is looking forward to it: “We’re both really competitive, and our Mum and Dad will be up there watching, but we haven’t spoken much about footy this week on the phone. I think we’re both looking forward to it – and hopefully I’ll get one up on him...The main thing is that we get the job done, so I’ve got all of the bragging rights"

Some nice bro love: “I’ve actually already warned him [about wrestling me],” he said...“He’s staying at my house for four days, so if he engages in any kind of wrestle and I get fined out of it, he’ll be paying for it.

Should be fun to watch their contests!

He did but I thought Frost did as well. The dropping of one maybe even two talls (which most likely won't happen) would only be for this Sunday's game where we could get as much as 4 inches of rain.

Maybe we need talls to keep their heads above the tide?  :-))

Demons: Unchanged.

Swans: four changes. Kurt Tippett (hamstring), Harry Marsh (hamstring) and Jeremy Laidler (knee) to injury while Harry Cunningham has been omitted.

So after several pages of banter about tall coming in for a short player, Cunningham and Laidler are both out!

While there will be rain the SCG may not be a cow paddock.  Grounds drain pretty well these days and the wind will dry the surface off a little.  Will definitely play damp but not necessarily the Casey-like bogs that some seem to think.  Just hope we learnt from the Hawks game that the ball doesn't bounce and to play off the ground!

I reckon there might just be an upset!

I'm guessing (probably wrong) that they play T-Mac on Buddy, O-Mac on resting ruckman, and Frost on Gary Rohan. Hunt would be the only one that could keep up with Rohan, but I think he would be too strong overhead, so I'm thinking Frost gets first crack.

One of Frost or OMac must be withdrawn from the squad (i was impressed with both last week but conditions don't suit). We have one tall too many for the conditions, surely Roos & match comittee can see this... TMac to take Buddy & Frost/Omac to take Sinclair/2nd ruck when their down there. We cant have Roos in the presser saying "we got it wrong at selection" AGAIN. Ideally I'd go with:

IN: Grimes

OUT: OMac

This is what I would have done and do think including is a mistake. O-Mac I have been supporter of, he has improved each week, but they are not tall and the conditions call for an extra runner not a light tall.

I wouldn't rule out a late change still... Why would they make the change tonight, better off waiting and seeing what the conditions are like tomorrow & on gameday. I'd think if it's as wet as their predicting a tall will go out with a mystery injury when the team sheets are lodged Sunday.

Unchanged after a 6 day break as well. Didn't Roos specifically lament that mistake after the short break St Kilda debacle as well?

We've got so many inconsistent kids who will be tired in the legs for a game that'll be a gruelling slog. Would've thought 2 changes should be the minimum with a 6 day break given our age profile.

On what basis could they withdraw say OMac. A feigned injury or does there have to be a legitimate Doctors certificate (or similar!)

That he's no good??

Indeed. It'll be slippery but not slow under foot.

We've had a game against another top 4 side in the Hawks just recently so that will benefit the group enormously.

Upset on the way.

That said, if it's torrential rain it will be a slog.

Did you watch the Casey match?  I don't think the extra day to recover would outweigh the slog they had to endure.  No point in replacing a tired player with a buggered one.

Why the heck are we going in so tall with so many of their talls out?

Selection is just baffling this year. We obviously learned nothing from Buckley's [censored] up last week.

We're not Collingwood and our talls are a far sight better than what the Pies fielded last week.

Relax FFS.

First time poster....

interesting when comparing direct opponents on afl match centre team sheets using afl rankings Melbourne actually leads 13 to 9. Last week against Collingwood it was 11 each. Sydney has the 5 highest players then drop away to quite a few inexperienced players. They are missing 7 players from there finals loss to north last year. If a player like Tommy bugg can do a similar tagging job on one of there gun mids like last week it could really tip the balance as they seem to rely on those top five players. Go the jugular Dees!

Why do I need to?  Can't you work it out?  Harmes has been in horrible form for the past month, while Trengove put together an excellent 6 week block of games and duly got promoted to the senior side.  Trengove has been very solid over these past 2 games and there is no reason to drop him for Harmes.

Anyone watching our games would know this.

Thank you for your carefully considered response. It was remiss of me to not watch the Melbourne Football Club before commenting.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
