Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?

A tagger that averages 24 possesions a game and has polled well in the Brownlow in previous years as a goalkicking mid.

Hes a gun.

In what world is Michael Barlow a "gun"? If he's a gun then Fyfe is the greatest footballer the game has ever seen. He averages less than a goal every 1.5 games so not sure how he's a goalkicking mid either.

He's been a solid workhorse of a player but wouldn't be in our first choice starting midfield, just as he hasn't been in an injury-decimated Freo's this year.

About to turn 29 and out for the season with injury.

Pass.

SEN discussion today was about 2017 draft prospects and it is expected to be a great draft and clubs will be reluctant to trade out future picks unlike this year where they thought on trading a 2016 pick wouldn't miss much.

Anyone considering trading a 2017 pick should shelve that idea.

Unless it's a club that thinks they have enough talent 21 and under and need to start getting in some peak age players to expedite improvement...

Just sayin...

The only positive we'd get from bringing a guy like Barlow to our club would be experience to the side.

However, the negatives comprehensively outweigh the positives in this instance and it's the kind of trade the Richmond footy club would do.

The last thing our club needs at present is another bloke who runs as if he is in quicksand. He is slow, clearly past his best and to be honest, he is just not that good. Players of his capabilities will always stand out when playing in a deep and talented midfield.

When I look at our side, I see three major weakness areas:

1: Pace and class in the middle

2: A Ruck/forward

3: An established key defender

Experience will come as our core continue to play together and that's just a waiting game. Brayshaw, Petracca, Hogan, Weideman, Salem, Oliver, Viney, O-Mac, Tyson, Gawn and Kent. That's 11 players who should all be playing together weekly at the 60-100 game mark and when that happens, we'll start seeing a lot more consistency in individual performance and therefore team performance.

At around that time, we'll also need to have a pretty settled back-line group and I'm imagining we'll have the McDonald brothers plus someone we bring in at the end of this year. Add Hibberd and Jetta as really hard and combative defenders and we'll have one spot then for a rotating HB/MID.

I see Hunt/Stretch and Melksham as players who are in the frame to play wing as they're our hard running players with pace and I think Hawthorn have shown just how important two elite running wingers are to a side in today's game.

An inside midfield group of Viney, Oliver, Brayshaw and Tyson. O'meara the rolls royce. Petracca our wild card who like Dusty can start as a dangerous forward but rotates through the middle and genuinely carves opposition players into totem poles.

Solid foot soldiers and senior experience in Jones and Vince with ANB, Vanders and Harmes as back up. Vince potentially playing mostly HB at this stage.

A Ruck/forward combination of Gawn and (insert name here).

Hogan, Weideman and Watts as our versatile three talls. Hogan and Watts to play high.

Garlett and Kent as our small forwards who can also play high up the ground.

It's a dream.

Get me a cold flannel.

Mackenzie, Brown, Hurley. There will be others. Tomlinson isn't one.

Dunn and Garland aren't getting a run at Melbourne, maybe we should try to pick one of them up?

Bad news. From all that I know and have been led to believe is that Hibberd will sign on when back from Croatia. Hate on me, do what you like, it's just what I have been told. Could be wrong.

Given you are such a dyed in the wool demons fan i wonder if you might, at some point, post about the MFC not the EFC

Relax! I have the utmost faith in Taylor and Viney. They won't miss out on getting whoever they target as our needs.

I only signed up to this forum to spread any knowledge/opinions on the Essendon 12 especially considering two major rumours involved our club. I thought people would enjoy or at lest appreciate inner sanctum info. I can easily stop posting and leave you guys in the dark.

Personally its not bad news to me.

Been out of the game for a year and im not confident at 27 he'll get back to his best.

Chill out Binman, no need for the slight wack. He hasn't disrespected us, so the least we could do is show a bit respect back.

Hibberd is MFC related news due to our high interest in him so any info is welcomed.

Thats fair enough. I agree.. yes would be great to get him but honestly how well would a 27 year old (in January) serve us. Too many on here read articles purely speculating and locked him in to the running half back role for 3-4 more years to come. Still plenty of water to pass under the bridge. Maybe he changes his mind, or maybe he gets offered money he can't refuse. But at this stage, I think he won't leave.

A similar thing was posted on a Facebook page some bloke claiming he spoke to Hibberd himself in Croatia claiming Hibberd will recommit once he returns, personally why would a player tell a random his intentions?? Only time will tell

So braysure is getting his 'inner sanctum' info from Facebook? Seems about right.

Hope you are right. We have bigger needs and a better use to put his salary to.

Scoop Maclure on 3aw the other night said Hurley and Hibberd won't be at Essendon next season he also stated the Bombers would get a 12 month ban about a week before CAS handed down the penalty, wait and see ey!

what do you mean "he also stated the Bombers would get a 12 month ban about a week before CAS handed down the penalty" - i presume you mean the current 12 month ban and not a further one?

Don't mind the news.

Goodwin said in an interview last week that he and Hibbered are good  mates (similar to Melksham). Coaches, recruiters etc need to use networks to get good players to the club but i am uneasy about this mateship thing.

I prefer the coach to be and be seen to be neutral.  No room for favourites if we are going up the ladder!  For that reason i am ok with Hibbered staying at efc.

I would be more than happy to have him an board, if he comes for free.

I hope the Goodwin "mates" thing doesn't color his thinking on doing a trade. Maybe he will be prepared to give the cheating scum what they want, so he can get another mate over.

He screwed the pooch with Melksham. I hope like hell he doesn't make another blue with Hibberd.

Having one Drug Cheat from the EFC pull on our Jumper is more than enough, considering that same player couldn't play for a year. Who know where his mindset is at now...

So i lose no sleep if Hibberd stays with the Druggers

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
