Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Reckon Michie is a chance this week. The Maggots only have a mid field and I would like to think that we will go in with a few of them so that they can remain fresh throughout the game.

Judging by this summary, Ben Ken and Spence will be closely looked at, too....

I'm changing my tip if he comes in.

Ok.. Im a big Michie fan more then anyone but you need to take you 'Viv Michie number 1 ticket holder fan club' hat off.

Grimes Kennedy Newton and ANB are far more better options then Viv. He played 1 qtr in the midfield against Port and that was in the last qtr.. He has no place in our midfield anynore. Even Wagner and Hunt are already ahead of him in the back half.

Sad because i like Viv but thats the reality. Whether your a cousin or family relative i think its time to start accepting that Viv will struggle to make it past this year.

BenKen played a few good games and then he dropped off a bit, he was subsequently dropped and it appears, played a blinder in the two's, good enough by all accounts, to be elevated up to the firsts again. It will be interesting to see if Roos does play him in the firsts this week because of two things, Roos has insisted that players perform consistently in the two's before they get elevated and has being dropped given him a kick up the ass after getting too comfortable in the senior side.

If he was getting comfortable Roos may leave him at Casey for a few more weeks so he doesn't do that again, all the players must realise they need to perform at their best every week not just when they feel threatened.

Grimes' consistent form should be rewarded. 14 tackles along with another 25 possessions. For heaven's sake, he's earned a game. Seeing him get shat on at selection is starting to really bother me.

I agree P !! Would love to see Grimes back. Maybe not this week though because of the need to cover the filth's two talls.

I also agree but where to fit him in is the problem.

The two that immediately come to mind is Wags and Hunt but they've hardly done anything wrong. Maybe a rest would be possible but with the bye just around the corner it would hardly be warranted.

Yes Dazzle, i'm thinking ANB and Newton along with Ben Kennedy and Dawes and the need for speed. Dunno about outs though.

I don't think we'd lose much of anything with Grimes in for Wags so would be happy to see that change. Hunt has solidified his spot a bit more in recent weeks and provides a point of difference with his run.

I do like Wagner's poise. The way he finds the time to spot the best option and usually hit them up is particularly different to what JG can do.

Left-footers have that attraction.

I like him going forward and he is probably better by foot, but he's still a bit error prone and certainly not a one touch player. A rest wouldn't be the worst thing for him at the halfway stage. If Grimes is a flop, so be it. I think his experience and hunger to keep his career going will add something to the side and he's earned the chance.

So bank on him being named as an emergency again.

It must be getting very frustrating for him but it's a by-product of how the team's evolving and the game plan they're implementing.

Wouldn't be surprised if he looks elsewhere come years end.

Kennedy is a perfect replacement for Viney. Run him through the midfield - rotating with Oliver.

We are a big chance of absolutely belting Collingwood. I think we might put them to the sword. Moore and Fasolo are bigger losses than people realize. I know Cloke usually plays ok against us, but that was before the emergence of Gawn. If our mids work hard - and it is a big if - then we should be able to push Collingwood's inside 50 entries away from the corridor. At best, Cloke would be kicking for goal on an angle. Outside of Cloke I cannot see them kicking a score. We are a good bet to take this.

Has averaged only 3 contested possessions and 0 clearances (a more robust stat) in his 3 matches. Would be way below requirements if he is seen as an inside mid by FD.

Zero chance of returning this year (barring severe decimation of mid field through injury/suspension) i would think.

I would say Wag was the best of the young rookies against the Hawks behind Tracc and Clarry bandicoot. Harmes had the shocker.

Grimes has earned it and although there are no games to compare with anyone this year, he was ranked about 3rd for effective disposals last year. Worth a look.

Sorry, but who does Grimes come in for? He's not fast enough for the pressing half forward role and isn't a goal kicker. There isn't a spot for him.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
