So we aren't looking for a forward/ ruck at the moment? It's not a hole in our impressive depth?

Yes we could be but Daw is not worth a 2nd round pick, nowhere near it.

...and if we were to trade it would be like for like, a player struggling for a game around mid 20's in age. Not a kid with plenty of development left in him...

There are better options that our 'surplus' mids could attract... Like Ebola, typhoid or a left over parma from Parma Night at the Myrninong Pub.

Majak would be a poor fit for our club, I would look else where because our depth in the middle will be seen like GWS soon. Too much top end talent will squeeze out fringe players that will leave to get game time elsewhere(Like how we got Tyson). Daw is in the Not Quite Right Bin for me. Pass.

Is that Daw or Dawes for trade?

How about Dawes for Daw?

Looks like D'Land is getting in earlier and earlier on the obscure players to draft or trade this year

it always amazes me how even the most mediocre player suddenly becomes a "superstar" come trade week

I wouldn't want to pay overs but I think North would be interested in one of our surplus mids.

As as for Daw himself I've always had a feeling he would eventually click and become a genuine player with some real X factor. Nothing suggests otherwise in his time ON the field anyway. Tall, lightning fast, developing forward/ruck that seems quite coachable. If Brown hadn't come on the way he had he would have 15 odd more games under his belt for sure. I'd love for this to happen for us.

Acceptable trades IMHO;

Straight second Rd pick

Hunt (Lumumba to replace)

Salem with a pick to go our way (purely as Melksham is to come in next year)

Kent (small forwards are overflowing)

ANB (he is too talented to fall behind Trenners once he returns)

I'd love not to lose any players but that's not logical going forward and I've tried to be realistic in what it would cost to get him here. ANB, Kent and Hunt might need pick exchanges to come into play as well to get the balance right. Thoughts?

You are convinced that a 25yr old 195cm veteran of 17 games will not make it? Based on what if I may ask?

This can only be a joke, right?

You say you wouldn't pay overs, but then offer up several scenarios that are all massive overs!

Even if he were a DFA, he doesn't fit the no d*ck head policy of our club. Not a guy of good character.

PASS.

He can't string good quarters at AFL level together, let alone good games.

He's an amazing looking athlete but he's not a good enough footballer.

I suspect that you are right.

Extraordinary post. You do realise that if we wanted him we could have taken him as a ROOKIE in the off-season with us having picks before North?

Was up in Sydney with Taylor Garners brother all weekend, good mate of mine. Said Majak caught up with Dee's officials 2 weeks ago.

A profoundly depressing thread as to what football has become. God almighty we have finally reason to enjoy our football and our team and to look forward to games to come and folks are talking about trades like a fish market. Perhaps follow real estate rather than the footy. Do you ever feel passionate about anything or is it just a marketplace and a trade?

Hold the Daw.

No, why don't you stop warging about and leave earlier?!

Fn Starks.

The only Stark I trust is Tony.

Just sign the Accords, Steve...

Why don't we have a GoT thread on here?

Or a GoT/Marvel mashup to keep rpfc happy.

Before or after we signed up Spencer for another year is probably an important question.

I'd have Majak as a back up if the club feels the need to have someone else alongside Spencer, possibly whilst Mitch King is injured. But I wouldn't be offering him more than a 1 year deal and wouldn't be that keen on a main list spot even if he's earnt it.

As a cheap buy I don't mind him, but not as anything more.

Worth it.

I was on Steve's side, for what it's worth.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
