Didn't we have something like 6-7 risking star nominations during 2011-12?

7 during 2010-12 according to one list I saw, including 2 noms each to Blease and Gysberts. Those 2 are in a very small group of players with 2 noms, the others being Nathan Jones, Michael Hurley, Luke Power, Mark Le Cras, Duncan Kellaway, Craig Callaghan and Michael Braun. Pick the odd ones out.

If he starts finding a bit more of the ball then he'll get one at  some stage of the year.

Back to Petracca, I'm not sure  just who to compare him with - he's such an aggressive, attacking player.  Can't wait to see what he becomes.

What about Dangerfield, DA? .... Same height, similar weight, both explosive, goal kicking mids, great hands, one has won games off his own boot and the other surely will

I see a lot of Danger in him, including how strong he is in the aerial contest.

I give it before mid next year til he kicks 8 goals in a game.

Who is our set shot coach? If we dont have one we need one for Trac to get 8. Unless he gets at least 7 of them on the run.

Fun fact...

It took Dangerfield 36 games to reach 3 games with 20 or more disposals.  Petracca has done it within 4.

Dangerfield is a goal-kicker and Petracca will be too.  They're similar, but different.  Petracca has a bit more of the Dustin Martin raging bull about him, although I have no doubt Petracca will be the better player.

In fairness, Danger started as an 18 year old and was roughly the age CP is now by the time he hit 36 games.

Oh i am loving it. But it just shows that it aint Rocket Science to recruit young kids with the right attitude.

Hey i hope Schwab still reads this site in the shadows and feels sick in his guts for what he let happen...

We all paid good hard earned

One of his last posts on here was ridiculous - posters called him out and legitimately queried some of his stances suffice to say he never responded and the thread was closed. Time to let it go though.

On a brighter note, congrats to Petracca, amazing he is now favourite for the RS despite only playing 4 weeks! I would have thought some others might be ahead (including our own Oliver) but the injury to Weitering probably dampened his chances. How funny would it be to see the Blues crying this year again after Hogan beating Cripps in what was a mere formality.

Oliver is being criminally underrated in the Rising Star. I would have him ahead of Petracca so far, who has just firmed as the favourite, while Oliver wasn't even mentioned in the 5 or 6 names I heard mentioned on the radio.

Petracca reminds me enormously of Mark Ricciuto.

Both thick-set, both explosive, both with the capacity to do to the extraordinary.

Now to match or better Ricciuto's eight All-Australian jumpers!

Hoping you can give the newbies here a quick summary Dr?

The 20-year-old had displayed signs of his prodigious talent but he found his consistency on Sunday, racking up 21 disposals as well as being involved in 11 of Melbourne's score involvements.

Petracca also laid seven tackles and was credited with 21 pressure acts in his fourth AFL game.

:roos::pj:

Yep settled in nicely.

Will look like a 50 gamer in another 4 games.

I distinctly remember a couple of Toumpas references in the Gameday thread. There might have been more in others.

barneymfc was one of them, but he doesn't count as no-one in their right mind would listen to a thing he has to say.

Look i know the RS is a nice award but i would be happier if our "Band of Brothers" slipped under the radar.

Wouldn't want anyone to lose focus on the job still ahead as September gets closer.

Absolutely no reason why this list of young kids cannot play week 1 of the finals, if they stay focused and play hard for each other...

Who were the Demonland posters calling him the new Toumpas after one game? From memory there were a few. Time for them to give up on footy.

Yes i saw that too

Shameful attitude. Toumpas is not fit to lick the boot of Tracc...

I remember when the last time the MFC drafted a Larke medalist who went on to get a rising star nomination. Here he is here:

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
