MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 8

Demonland

I really think we are going to have two big advantages in this game.

Gawn will dominate in the ruck, and Hogan, Pederson and Watts should have decent height advantages

having said that though quick teams seem to really expose us and the dogs have plenty of speed.

Let's hope they don't bring Jong in. If he is then we are up [censored] creek. They could be playing games with pretending to leave him out....how Richmond played games with Deledio

Im excited about this game. It's great its at the G and it will tell us where we are at. Maxy should dominate the ruck and around the ground and I hope we can contain Stringer and its Libba who usually cuts us up.

But it would be great to have many many melbourne fans there and make some noise and drown out the doggies.

As nutbean said on the previous page, he's played against us twice. Once for 9 disposals, once for 14. Where has this bizarre theory come from?

With the concern about covering Stringer people are naturally afraid of a second-stringer coming into their team.*

IIRC Lin Jong played well in the last 2 NAB Challenge games against us.     Anyway he's not playing so we can relax.

Matt Jones has exceeded Jong in comparative possession counts across those NABs. Wonder if the Bullies fans are relieved he's out?

No idea why people are getting their knickers in a twist about no ANB.  He's playing well, sure, but it's hardly something to get upset about.  He'll get his chance somewhere down the line.

That down the line might be another club the way it's going.

His form has been better than Mitchie, Stretch and probably Kents for most of the year but he gets overlooked constantly.

must have ran over Roos cat.

I agree about form, but ANB is a different player to all 3 that you've mentioned.  You don't get into the side on form alone.  Michie is used off half back, Stretch is a wing/half forward type while Kent plays almost exclusively as a small forward.  ANB is a pure midfielder, an area of our side that is one of our strengths at the minute.

I'm hoping he keeps this form up so that, when he gets his chance, he takes it with both hands.  But it's nothing to get annoyed about.

Does anyone Know why ANB can't get a game in the seniors???

I am sure he will when he is the best option for a role.

They have lost this at the selection table by not selecting Lin Jong.

Interesting - has he been recalled to attend the Dear Leader's party in Pyongyang?

Is it just me or does ANB remind you of Jack Grimes (to look at not his playing style?  So many on here really rate Alex, I hope they're right.

Haven't read the whole thread, but do we know who the umpires are yet?

Very interested to see if the Dogs employee gets the gig again.

Yaawwwn.

As a relative newbie to DL, but a fanatic nonetheless, the childish [censored]-for-tat on some threads are getting reeeally boring. I'm looking at you picket and stuie amongst others.

I come on here to observe and engage in footy discussion on the 'team we love', not schoolyard dummy spits and d**k waving!!

Can't ya'll grow up and play nice?

We're all here with the same passion.

GO DEES. Take it right up to the Dogs and do us proud this week.

You're not the first one to ask for this. Good luck with that, though.

We need to start fast and finish strong, we will need to out tackle them and apply extreme pressure for four quarters. The Dee's are good enough if they are switched on like they were last week. We now have the cattle (if inexperienced) and I haven't felt so confidant for a long, long time and I agree with a number of previous posters, it is all "above the shoulders" now. GO DEE'S!!!!

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
