With Jack signing it makes me reflect on recent non signings frawley and Howe and wonder how hard we really tried to sign them

Frawley just puts an x on the line I'm told.

So it was always going to be hard to get his signature.

Whilst the mercenaries will always exist there are also those for whom the jumper, the history and the chance to enjoy the resurgent era mean more. Viney is amongst these. More so Jack understands he's causal to this and meets destiny head on ..... with a smile.

The more such players do do the more likely it is to happen.

We didn't

They were never part of tomorrow's  picture

There are plenty to thank for our turn around.

Jack Viney made his team mates change by showing them how to tackle. They all got on board.

We stopped being bruise free 2 years ago.

if you are too weak to hang around while the side develops and instead want to barnacle yourself onto a successful club, than you don't have the strength of character required to be at the MFC, and there's the door

I don't GAF how much they paid him. Loyalty or family connections have nothing to do with it. Jack Viney is now elite property and will be paid as such.

Could not agree more. My immediate reaction. Your first sentence sums it up. Its not always about the money. Also shows how well this club is now being managed. If you were going to sign up mid season one of your gun players who would it be. Jesse Hogan? No wrong, Jack Viney. Heart and Soul. Massive strategic move, A really powerful action that will impact on the club, its players and supporters. Jack Viney is Melbourne.

What happened to Damien Barretts pathetic claim that Jack Viney was going to Port Adelaide this was never going to happen as he is true Red & Blue his Father played here not to mention that we are on the way up. I can't stand him he is always taking cheap shots at our club

Is that the same Damien Barrett that criticised us trading for Dom Tyson and then admitted he has never seen him play?

When this one re Viney came up, it reaffirmed my belief that he was a demon for life.

Just waiting for the hogan trade scoop from Barrett to know jesse will sign with us again a mega deal within a week!

How good would it be to see him holding up the premiership cup one day...?

Haha, agreed, but let's be honest, we'd all be happy with anyone holding up the premiership cup, as long as they were wearing the red and blue jumper. :P

As far as $ are concerned, the Herald Sun are reporting it could be up to $2.5mil over 4 years, depending on bonuses for b&f and brownlow finishes

Was going to say the same. Whatever it is, it is well worth it. The guy is just such a leader, he has played 56 games?! Imagine how good he will be at 100+, frightening for opposition teams.

What a role model for Oliver, Brayshaw and Petracca. He's shown that if you live by the rule that you go harder than everyone around you, you can reach the heights of being an all-australian type performer in just your fourth year of footy. Let's hope the way he goes about things truly does rub off on his younger teammates (you'd think the effect of this will be stronger when he is named captain). Petracca in particular is scary concept - because if he plays with the intent and hardness that Viney does, he has the added  advantage of a very solid body that could make him very damaging indeed. Then think of the four of them in the middle all playing with Viney-like rage and toughness, who is going to stop them?

Bargain.

Viney is the beating heart of the MFC.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
