Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Ah yes can definately agree but hasten to add, When I PLAYED just think a combo of Stevie J, Adem Yze and Bomber Hendrie!

When I was on song Sheeeit I was breathtaking  LOL ! :P

When I played - think Simon Godfrey disposal, Tony Libratore marking, Aaron Sandilands pace,  and the heart of Joel Bowden - I was the complete package

I was well loved by my team mates ( that's because no matter how badly they played I always played worse)

Apologies for hijacking this thread with a serious question...

I'm heading to the game tomorrow.  As a MFC member, and given it's our home game, do we get allocated a section to sit in?  I'd much prefer to sit on ground level, so any direction as to the best gate to head to would be appreciated.

$1.80 now, Saints have come in.

Hi Billy,

Their is a small allocation for MFC members on Lvl 1 Aisles 36/37 & 37/38. I suggest getting there a bit early! :pj:

You'd think as a home game, there would be a lot more allocation than just 2 Aisles for MFC members for level 1.

THE NEW REALITY by Whispering Jack

Melbourne has not beaten St Kilda in an AFL premiership match since the 2006 Elimination Final when it recorded a three goal victory at the MCG.

There's a lot of boxes, hoodoo's, records to be ticked off. This is right up there along with Nth Melbourne's streak.

This sucks.

Tell me about it,hopefully they open up a couple more bays... the club wonders why they never get fans to turn up. I hate Etihad but i'll be there with Bells on for this game!

Any predictions on whether the roof will be closed or not?

Closed. They wont want the feral Saints yelling to disturb the people working in nearby offices..

Despite the odds, St Kilda will go into this game thinking they will win. They clearly have it over us and despite our win at Ethiad last year our record is flimsy there to say the least.

However our boys are going in with 2 wins behind them and a solid game against Norf when the umpires stuffed it up.

This is a confident Demons side and rightfully so. Lets hope the saints underestimate us at their peril. Should beinteresting but I think we will get across the line.

Would love to see us win with a big big score for once. That would really get us up and about.

For the past 3 weeks, the odds for our opponents have shortened dramatically after the teams were announced. I could understand the Collingwood game with Sidebottom and Varcoe in as against Vince out and no Garlett. Couldn't work out the Richmond game with Maric in versus Vince and Garlett. And I would have thought that the exclusion of McCartin was a win for us. Let's hope the bookies/punters get in wrong 3 weeks in a row.

I wonder weather Jake Melkshem would get a game if he were available next week?

Was thinking on that , I reckon Bugg Salem and lamumba are ahead of him, surely he is not playing before Oliver brayshaw or trac - vandas and trenners in the mix also tough gig . Id say he doesnt play .

I was thinking that too but I was also thinking that Melksham would have had 3 games at Casey where he would have had 75 possessions a game and kicked 5 goals per game from half back.

Seriously, two months ago people were arguing on why we had even recruited Bugg and at the same time suggesting that Trengove wouldn't even get on the field again.

How on earth can you measure Melksham who hasn't played at all since last year and we haven't really seen him up close for any great length of time against players who are playing right now.

I use Bernie Vince as an example of a player that when he arrived there was some degree of skepticism around how much value he would be - he is now arguably one of the first picked every week.

Odds are about money wagered, not logic. Some delusional Toiges fans must have cousins from Moorabbin

This is weird...

Not really. I haven't been nervous before most games in recent years. It was hard to get into a state worrying whether we'd lose by x or y points.  Now I worry in every match.

North play 3 tall forwards (Petrie, Waite and Brown) to great effect but none of them are what you would call fast.

They seem to be going alright at the moment but it will be interesting how they go against the speedy Dogs tonight at the dome where the roof will be closed.

Big men don't get shorter during a game

I thought this game was at the G, hence why we aren't playing there, but it isn't WTF!!!???

Dees by 24 points,

I think the Saints still rely far to much on the older boys which is where we're a long way ahead of them, i reckon Roo and Joey if they play won't be 100% and that hurts them a lot!

I think we can get on top of the mids and really give our forwards good supply against an undermanned defense, Fisher and Dempster rely on extra numbers to help them punch above their weight, last week the Giants fast ball movement really exposed how much they struggle one on one with the big forwards

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
