Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A lot of things to like about today but my favourite by far was after the boys sung the team song and Kent walked past the camera, and yelled "Who farted?!" before putting his face into his jumper.

I actually thought that wasn't a great look when there's a camera in your face.  What is he, 8 years old?

Frosty !!! Showing why he may be ahead of Dawes with athleticism and effort and some finish . Hasn't played many games but looked to have started  his journey today - what you said . Lols this guy will be massive for us .

When we get our finals side in I can't see him getting a game. For me his strengths are undoubtably his size and his speed. His biggest weakness is his kicking. Those who can't reliably kick will not play in our future champion sides.

That also applies to players such as Tyson who has a habit of shanking his kicks particularly for goal, although that seemed to have improved over the last couple of weeks to his credit.

There was so much to like about today. Firstly, I'm definitely a WTF are those selections culprit and I'm totally happy to have got it wrong.

A few general thoughts:

  • the chemistry is sensational and there's a real sense on field of these guys playing for each other. They will all come through the age brackets around the same time and in a few years that will play out very nicely for us

Yea how was the push and shove towards the end in the forward line wen they all came in to back up the melb player who just goaled i think it was tyson or frost. I love the way hogan struts in and starts pulling cwood payers off his team mates.

Anyone notice how many left footers we have in the team now? We've gotta learn to run to the correct side to give to those players and ensure they're on the left side.

Wagner, Salem, Bugg, Viney, Kent, Kennedy, Tyson. Have I missed any? Hello, Hawthorn.

Watts, Brayshaw, N.Jones - equally good both sides.

Great to get the win, but really, don't get ahead of ourselves.  Some of the turnovers were horrific and until we get these out of our game we will continue to be hit and miss.

Frost is like a 3 year old Colt, might need to be gelded to get that consistency.  The open goal that should have been in the last minute of the 3rd, what a goal it would have been he just got a little bit excited.

Happy with the win, need to improve for next week.

Two quick questions re. umpiring decisions. The touched off the boot Treloar point that went to the goal review after a marking contest. Is this within the laws of review system? It seems if a field umpire calls touched then it could have an impact on the following contest. And the Frost free on the 3/4 time. Pedo picks up the ball after the free is awarded and is absolutely dumped. Can 50m be awarded to the kicker if a teammate is impinged in the process of returning the ball? Just curious (Read: I was one of those with a chunk of cash on a 39+ win).

He (Oliver) seemed to be on the bench most of the first quarter so maybe were saving him for later in the game? He definitely set up at least one goal out of the middle with his vision, strength to stand up in the tackle and repeat effort.

Yep, it's incredible that we have one two guys that barely play more than 50% of the match and we don't get shown up on the spread. It has to be a testament to our more mature players' fitness that they can cover these guys. Don't listen to Dave Misson on the injury front, but he appears to be working wonders in his actual job.

That is actually a good question. After hearing touched, the defender has every right to shepherd it through for a point. Would be unfair to then go upstairs and decide it wasn't touched.

Just checked in on the trip home at Narita Airport, Tokyo where the Qantas counter is manned by Japan Airlines staff all decked out to greet me wearing red and blue.

What a great place this is?

Dispatch from Bangkok

To quote Paul Keating, who demeaned himself by becoming a member of the piggery also know as the Collingwood Football Club;- "That was the sweetest victory of all."

I found a wonderful pub in Bangkok called The Sportsman's Bar that had the direct link and ensconced myself there, in the company of another Demon supporter. Thai border security, immigration and prison officials had done an admirable job as there was not one Wobble person to be found there.

Here, lubricated with a few Heinekens, and good company,  I was was able to take in a magnificent game. Even though it is not the same as being at the MCG where you can take in the magnificent vista of an AFL game unfolding in a frenetic atmosphere watching a game live on the big screen does have its advantages, at least the car is safely garaged and won't be keyed anor are you likely to  be waylaid by toothless wobble creatures in the carpark

Jack Watts set the pace with an early goal. the Collingwood rabble answered but like their overseas supporters they soon disappeared, unlike their supporters in Bangkok the players reappeared after half time, if for only a short time. Melbourne soon got back on top and went on to score a memorable victory. It was fantastic to see the man mountain dominate the center bounces  and the revamped center line taking full advantage of his dominance. For Jack Watts four magnificent goals may have been sweet revenge for what the pack attack he endured on debut. I suspect the consequent course of rabies injections following his scragging may have spurred him on.

Ah life can be so good at times

  • I think we won the BenKen/Howe trade. LOL Jeremy
  • Do you think Treloar regrets not expanding the job search beyond Collingwood and Richmond?
  • Freeing Hogan up to go back or chase kicks through the centre square, has worked wonders for him. Truly his best position and he will be Carey-esqe. He'd also be mental to go to Freo next year, let alone the year after.
  • Speaking of best positions, why have we been facking around with Jack Watts for so long playing anywhere other than as a running, marking forward?
  • I didn't think Bugg did a lot, but then saw 29 touches and 9 tackles. He's a bit rough around the edges but good on him
  • Hunt certainly didn't look out of place
  • Wagner is so composed - wonderful.
  • Dom Tyson is getting back to his best, so too bad haters
  • Lumumba is amazing when he lowers his eyes. Why has he been bombing it for 2 years??
  • Dunn and McDonald were really, really excellent today. Dunn's bullet passes were sensational and McDonald's defensive work was first class. Garland and Grimes are done.
  • Brayshaw is underdone and makes way for Garlett
  • Frost played his best game for us and brought a huge amount to the table. Just needs to kick goals.

I agree about Brayshaw. I have no doubt he will be one of our A graders in the future but seems underdone and tired at the moment. I hope it isn't a concussion issue. Best for him to go back to Casey starting with limited game time and building back up to optimal fitness and form. We need him not only up and firing for the second half of the year, but also to make sure of his longer term fitness.

The pies supporters around me were dumbstruck Fantastic opportunistic play.

When I saw him kick it from fifty on the run, I knew it was our day.

Frost. On the run. From 50.

I think most, including myself, are probably guilty of forgetting he is even on the list sometimes...

He is no depth player on his day either... I am excited by what lies ahead over the next few years!

Any doubt about the Jake/Max combination is dispelled by watching the Geelong game from last year. It was awesome. Can't wait to see them both back in harness, but sadly I suspect not this year due to injury and fitness.

What a great game that was!!!.

Loving watts as the third tall he is really growing in confidence, and even trying to throw his weight around a bit now.

Like seeing Hogan being played around the ground more, good for him to get his hands on it more as opposed to being stuck in the forward line.

WAGNER!!! what a great game from the kid, very positive start.

Hunt had a great debut as well and I am looking forward to watching him progress.

Maximus Gawnus will be classed as the best ruck in the competition by years end. well done maxy!!

Viney just keeps getting better and better

Matt jones has been good the last two weeks in my eyes perhaps he will make it after all.

Tyson and bugg both played the best they have for the year

the confidence we are showing is a brilliant thing and will see us win more than we will loose this year.

loving it!!!

oh yes, and finally.....

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
