Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Needed this to set up our year.

How poetic that Wattsy is Bog against the team that bullied him in his first game.

I think we have a team on our hands,it's early days but the dark days look over.

Vince,Vanders,Garlett and Petracca to still come into this side and make us stronger.

And interviewed at the end of the game by none other than Nick Maxwell himself.

The irony was delicious

I was at the game with a bunch of Collingwood supporters. What a fantastic feeling - nothing like beating the Pies.

I had the same pleasure too, at the end most had left , when the song was played a few melb supporters were singing , but going to loud was not a good idea

Think it was Greg Denham on Friday said the club must of put a finals get out clause in his contract. The extension certainly hasn't ended any scrutiny.

Loved that, but preferred the way the boys flew the teams colours after Toovey dumped Tyson after his 2nd goal.

First at Toovey was Jack "I'm gonna rip your *#cking head off your shoulders" Viney.  Love him.

It appeared that Oliver was given a different role this week and was used in fewer centre bounces. Perhaps they are trying to teach him a defensive role, or manage his workload (given that he still hasn't got to 70% game time).

I'm in Qld so watching on tele. Does this fit with what you could see at the ground?

I knew we had improved. Great effort from Watts, The only downside is making room for vince, garlett and maybe vanders. Garland must be concerned but Im glad that there is enough depth and determination so that mediocrity will not be tolerated.

That makes sense. The first time I recall Oliver coming onto the ground was about half way through the first quarter.

We had 15 of centre clearances and Viney had 8 of them. The next best on the ground was Blair with 3.

i don't recall Oliver being at too many centre bounces and even at the stoppages around the ground, he appeared to be holding back, rather than crashing through. He still managed 8 tackles though, so not a bad effort for his fourth game.

And guess what we will do again in a few weeks.

Does it get any better than beating the Pies twice in the one year?

For those with relatives who follow black-and-white, perhaps not ... :)

Anyone notice how many left footers we have in the team now? We've gotta learn to run to the correct side to give to those players and ensure they're on the left side.

Wagner, Salem, Bugg, Viney, Kent, Kennedy, Tyson. Have I missed any? Hello, Hawthorn.

There's plenty to say about the game today.

Best game of their career for Frost, Bugg, Wagner and Hunt.  Admittedly for Hunt and Wagner that's not such a stretch, but true nonetheless.

If Frost had given the return handball instead of U-Turning and getting nailed in a tackle Watts would have equaled last year's goal tally in round 4.  As it is we'll have to wait another week.  By this of course I mean that Watts is in great form and we're loving it.

In the same vein, how good is the chemistry right now between our tall forwards?  Watts 17 disposals 8 marks and 4 goals 1, Hogan 18 disposals 9 marks 2 goals 2, Frost 19 disposals (!!!) 5 marks 1 goal 2 and Pedersen 20 disposals 5 marks 2 goals.  That is massive.  Hogan is loving the freedom of playing CHF while the others rotate through FF and it must be hell on the defence to try to match up when they are constantly switching around through FF, CHF and wing the way they did today.

I am so happy with the look of Wagner and Hunt as the two rebounding HBFs.  They are still very raw and need a lot of polish, but the signs are very good.  If Hunt improves in his second game as much as Wagner did then he'll look great next week.

It's easy to focus on the big improvers, but I have to mention the efforts of the usual suspects as well.  Viney is leading the way on field. Jones was the workhorse we expect him to be, Tyson is getting his mojo back, the great wall of Dunn, Jetta and TMac were as strong as ever and Gawn is backing up his talk in the pre-season and making a big claim to being one of the best rucks in the league.

Also a big thumbs up to Lamumba.  I think it's pretty clear that the coaches sat him down after round 2 and told him the long bomb was no longer going to be part of his game.  Last week you could see him setting up for it and then changing his mind and actually hitting targets.  This week he did it better, was more fluid and all of a sudden his disposal is becoming really damaging.  If he keeps this up he's going to give the B&F a very good shake.

Wow.  That was just a really complete team performance.  If we play like that every week we'll go really close to playing finals.

Watching the replay now and I'd still like Salem into the midfield, please. Perhaps with Bernie back, he and Salem can rotate between half back and the centre?

In other news. Wowee. Imagine our midfield with Prestia. Salivating. I wonder if Petracca will play in the midfield this year too.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
