Port's skills last night were awful, Essendon's worse, Port just battered their way through to a win

That is why we are not a good team yet, I had hoped after the GWS win it might change, but not quite

We've yet to get a few more quality players back in the side,  & in form.   We all know they aren't quite ready yet.  =  Brayshaw, Trengove, Dunn is back this week. Hogan is out of form, Petracca hopefully will earn his stripes to be in this group.

When we get these players In, form,,, we will be traveling much better & start looking like a team.

I'm predicting our Run Home will be a lot stronger,  but will be a little too late.

Roos already said he thought a couple were thinking like that before the Essendon game, which is a sad indictment on the playing group

Just as sad that Roos recognised this, yet did nothing to rectify it before and even during the game.

Indictment, don't think so..  young,  inexperienced yeah.  conscious thought, No...  if there was any player or staff with a conscious thought of an easy game, & therefore taking it easy,  they should spend the rest of the season with Casey.

Nope,  mostly these thoughts are 'subconscious',  & catch the players out,  & they play 'flat' .  And they get frustrated with themselves.  a bit like Hogan has been showing.

At least we know that Jeremy Howe wasn't just lazy for us because he wanted a trade, he's a lazy ineffectual footballer in general.

Ha, my Magpie mates at our local cricket club were carrying on about top four this year; how great it was to get Howe and how little they paid to get him viz Kennedy and generally how fantastic their midfield was going to be.  I think they may have gone a tad early.

The anticipation,  excitement,  anxiety,  towards the game ahead,  grows thru the week...  its is almost impossible to turn it at will,  when most of the team has tripped up similarly. Even if the coaches have talked to them & warned of this 'taking them lightly'...

'Theoretical lesson'  messages,  do little during the week ahead for inexperienced players,  & even less on game day.  It's learning the hard way that gives 'the practical experiences',  that really hit home,  & lodge in the memory banks.

These are the most powerful lessons.

Gee, the St Kilda forward line is gonna be good. Where I think they'll break down a bit unless they keep adding talent, is their midfield and backline.

In the seventies some family friends who were Collingwood members used to take me to Victoria Park for a few years when we played there. Unusual for a Melbourne supporter I got to sit in the members about 15 rows behind the Johnston St goals. They were a better class of supporter there but I kept quiet of course.  There was no way my parents would let me go there on my own to watch from the general admissions area.

yes interesting days back then...  I remember trying to see the footy with adults standing on beer cans in front at Moorabbin,  so they could look over the top of those infront.  It was difficult to be the lone kid trying to see your club play.  (Melbourne away game)

I got taken to a game by my Tiger supporting uncle,  to watch Richmond with Royce Heart,  play my Demons.  Once the game started he went into the standing area & i was behind everyone,  & I could not see the game at all,  whole match.

Ah yes the beer cans! They were made of steel then and not aluminium so easy to stand on without crushing them and falling over.

The problem with last week is how predictable it was that we wouldn't turn up to that game. So many posters called it months before the season even started; to see it unfold so inevitably in reality was like watching a car crash in slow-motion.

After Port's breathless win last night, I think it's perfectly understandable for Dees supporters to be feeling doubly filthy about last week's game and express themselves as such.

Well stated Saber.

If anyone at the club really, as Roos said, got ahead of themselves and or thought that it would be an easy win, they should be exposed and spend a few weeks at Casey. But of course it is an ingrained trait at our club and nobody will make a stand. Poor leadership on and off field.

Anybody got any idea why the saints weren't trounced in the last quarter of their game?

And why they all seem to be muscled up to almost the same shape?

Must admit Scully is finally starting to produce - bugger him. Mind you he has taken a few $million years to produce.

I literally saw him hit one target by foot. His kicks are terrible. He would be awesome if he could kick.

Seems like we will be fighting for last spot with the bombers...

I dont know what you guys expected this year? apart from the GWS win rd 23 we were shite at the end of last season. I said numerous times that too many people build up the list capability through the off season reading training reports. At least now that  the rose coloured glasses seem to be off, I can finally read some honest and insightful discussion on the team.

The stuff being written about making the 8, 12 wins etc , through the pre season and NAB was just ridiculous. Blind freddy could see that nab cup exposed some real concerns.

Ill be praising the side when they are improving but im not going to sprout bulltish becuase its deemed by others to be negative to say otherwise.

From now on lets be honest in our critique of the club. Its much more useful discussion

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
