Anyone still doubt that Ollie has earned a start round 1?

I think Hogan is just having an off day, like Mcdonald last week.

if he gets up and going it'll turn quick, he's still a huge concern for them, they have had two blokes on him most of the game

Would like to see Hogan get into the game more

He has. He has dropped three marks. Only positive, a good handball to Jeffy for a goal. Appears very rusty. He will come good.

First half ponderings.

I'm enjoying the stylings of Max Gawn, Jack Watts, Neville Jetta, Jeff Garlett and Clarrie.

No idea how we're winning with our midfield being so bad so far.

Tyson, Hogan and Wagner couldn't play worse games if they tried.

Tom has been good, but that [censored] turn over...

Take out O'mac and put in Dunn and the Saints would not have got 4 of those goals.

Now, how the [censored], does Sandy Roberts have a job? So far he's called Jetta Salem, Wagner Tyson, Harmes Oliver, Nathan Jones Nathan Brown... Just embarrassing.

He's a must start. He's done no less than Brayshaw this time last year.

Ben Kennedy, wow! Never knew he was such a maniac. Kicking drop punts rather than floaters this week too - Round 1 lock.

Watts, contested marking, don't argues, goals. Who is this man?

Salem's kicking has been poor today, and all pre season for that matter. I think Vince should predominantly take the kick ins.

An underdone Lumumba has to be a better option than Wagner for Round 1. He looks way out of his depth, not another vandenBerg unfortunately.

Scratchy 1st quarter. Some moments of scratchiness in 2nd, but mostly pretty impressive. Unlucky not to be further in front.

Pressure was awesome for most of that quarter, very surprised to see we're losing the tackle count.

Watts has been great.

If he plays like that continually it will be a massive positive for us.

Is Sandy Roberts a saints supporter? He's calling half their team by obscure nicknames and can't get a player on our team right.

in terms of the game, great intensity from the guys. Skills still a bit off but will improve. I think confidence is the key and we have some decent players to come back like Brayshaw, Lumumba, VdB, Dunn etc.

And I know ProDee and Jumbo have a bet going - I think Watts is an absolute lock for round one at this stage. In very good form and clearly one of our best over the three games.

Grimes should have swallowed that mark. He squibbed it.

Our recruiting haul from this offseason (Oliver, Bugg, Kennedy) looks bloody good so far. All three are super hard at the ball and just seem to always win 50/50's.

Hogan may be having problems with his back and if so should be taken off soon.  If lack of rotations prevent that, park him in the goal square and tell him not to move!!

Winning a NAB game isn't worth taking any risks with him.

Garland and McDonald's disposal is going to cost us big time.

Bar one kick, Tom has been very good so far. Watts again among our best.

Is anyone else concerned about Tyson? He gets caught all the time and when he gets one away, it is a poor disposal.

Wagner has killed us with his only few kicks, all have gone to the Saints and cost a couple of goals. I know though he is only a rookie. Where are you Mitch White?

Oliver does not appear one of the long list of Clayton's footballers we have recruited in the past decade.

Couldn't believe that moment towards the end of the quarter where Tyson was out and he handballed backwards.. one of the stranger things i've seen

Shouldn't have even gone to him, Salem was the closer and better option.

I thought it was a squib too, but maybe the sun cuts him a break.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
