Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

National women's football league set to expand to eight teams

Quote

With the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne virtually guaranteed to win licences, six other Victorian clubs are vying for the two remaining national teams. Only Hawthorn and North Melbourne appear unlikely to launch serious bid challenges.

... and Demonland will have its own section for the womens' game starting soon ,,,

Completely irrelevant

If you think it's "irrelevant" you have the democratic right to ignore this thread, any articles on the subject and our section on Women's Football when we get it up and running.

Also, if you really thought it was "irrelevant" then you wouldn't have wasted your time posting or the time that others spent reading it.

There was a survey(?) a little while go as to whether there should be a separate women's section on DL. Has that been decided? I think (as I think I posted then) that it should be just as much a part of DL as Casey discussions (if not more so). Apart from the watchability, and the expectation that our team's games will provide us with the curtain-raiser experience again, at last, this is going to provide us with premiership satisfaction - possibly even before this current crop of boys do!

Nah, separate sections is good, keeps the politics out of the main forum. For those only interested in footy (and not gender politics), then the separate sections will be appreciated (from my perspective anyway).

What "gender politics" are involved in supporting a woman's football team?

For a start, not everyone supports women's football.

Do you mean you don't support it in the way you do support melbourne? Or do you mean you are ideologically against the idea of women being allowed to play football?

Well, now I see what people were worried about with 'gender politics'.

Guys, it'd be really great if you tried to keep your radical gender agenda politics away from the game. Its not good for the club.

And had the gall to say Collingwood should have the first team due to all the support they give women! Hate to let him know but at best he could claim to being the third team, and that is only if they are successful in getting a team.

Fantastic.  All part of us being a forward looking, bigger, stronger more viable club... It can only bring us more members, more community involvement, more press, more sponsorship....

What is to lose.... And if Hogan falls in love with the Demons full forward ...and maybe has a few kids ... sons, and daughters of course... and..... nahh... I'm overthinking it!

What they have done is take a public place which included facilities for women and renovate it and low and behold it still has facilities for women. I wonder if it would have those if the government hadn't made it part of the deal of handing over the original facilities?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
