The recruitment of Weiderman suggests to me that neither Dawes or Pederson are in the long term planning unless they significantly lift their game, as such i wouldn't be surprised to see Weiderman blooded fairly early on depending on form.

No doubt this is where the future lies but they are still both kids and  I would hope to get a good look at them in the NAB cup and at Casey for a while.

Even though Kent could be a very strong small forward what are peoples thoughts on him moving into the midfield more. As a junior he played in the midfield and has that toughness and speed around the contest. At this stage I think his tank would not allow him to do so, however I think a high half forward that rotates through the midfield.

When he becomes a permanent fixture, running through the midfield will be a natural progression.

I think he has very similar attributes to Dane Swan and if he is half as good I'd be happy!!

FB: Garland - Dunn - Jetta

HB: Salem - McDonald - Wagner

C: Vince - N.Jones - Brayshaw

HF: Kent - Hogan - Vanders

FF: Frost - Pedo - Garlett

R: Gawn - Tyson - Viney

I: Watts - Stretch - Grimes - Harmes

E: Bugg - Hulett - Spencer

--------------------------------------

Wagner to be promoted for Jake the snake.

Petracca - Probably in Casey for a run

Trengove - Casey for a few

--------------------------------------

Matchups:

Jetta - Stevie J (show stevie he should have retired last year)

McDonald - Cameron (if he can keep him under 3 goals, job done)

Dunn - Patton/Stewart (may be undersized with Patton, but I back him to really hurt on the rebound)

Viney - Ward (Head to head with one of the competitions better inside players, I back Viney in!)

Vanders/Harmes - Shaw (key to shutting down their drive from the back 50)

I doubt I'd have Hogan, Pederson and Frost in the same team/forward-line.

I would.

Frost is very agile and mobile, and puts on better pressure than our other smaller options.

On a dry April day, 3 marking forwards create headaches and spreads the defence off Hogan.

I think they'll rotate Pedo, Frost and Gawn as tall options down forward.

We will basically play a 4-5 man structure, with one player permanently rolling up.

I'm presuming of the currently injured players, it's likely only Watts that will be fit to go for round 1. Ideally I would prefer Harmes in his place, to be honest, but I expect Roos and the coaching staff will continue to back him in.

B: Jetta – T McDonald – Garland
HB: Salem – Dunn – Bugg
C: Tyson – N Jones - vandenBerg
HF: Watts – Frost – Brayshaw
F: Kent – Hogan - Garlett
Foll: Gawn – Vince – Viney
I/C: Stretch – Pedersen – Kennedy – Harmes
Emerg: Neal-Bullen – Grimes – M Jones

Injured / recovering from injury: Petracca, Dawes, Lumumba, Trengove, Newton, Kennedy-Harris

Likely Casey representatives: Oliver, Weideman, Hulett, O McDonald, Hunt, ANB, Grimes, Spencer, Terlich, M King x2, Michie, White, Wagner, Smith

But obviously we won't have any real clue until the challenge games have been and gone and what injuries we pick up.

But they're also finally saying to Watts that he has to play as leading/marking tall.  We all know that he's never played "tall" despite his 196cm, however, they're training him as the third tall to impact the scoreboard.

With this in mind I don't see a spot for all of Watts, Hogan, Frost and Pedersen.

Bare in mind Petracca will also be playing as a forward and he's a sensational mark for his height (186cm)

Frost, Hogan, Watts, Petracca, Kent and Garlett (plus rotating mids Brayshaw/vandenBerg, et al).

There's room for one of Pedersen or Frost.  I suspect it will be Frost.

There are some very odd 'sets' on our list, for assistance with diagnosing autism spectrum disorders.

We have a young ruckman/forward from the Murray Bushrangers, named M King, competing directly for a spot against a young ruckman/forward from the Murray Bushrangers, named M King.

We have three forwards under 180cm whose names begin with K and whose height is inversely proportional to their name length: Kent, Kennedy, and Kennedy-Harris.

We also retain our long-held crown for having the most players with names beginning with J. Not since the heady days of Neale Daniher and 'surnames beginning with W' have we had such sustained AFL-wide dominance on our list.

I hope this has cleared up some of the confusion.

There was a time in the early/mid eighties when it seemed like literally every club had a "Williams" on the list. Ours was David Williams. Greg Williams. Mark Williams. Daisy Williams. Who can name the others?

Just to clarify....Pedo would be starting on the bench with 3 mids??

No.  I'd have either Frost or Pedersen.

At this stage I prefer Frost.

From my original team in the OP Dawes is out so my team is looking for a CHF.

For Dawes I would bring in Grimes to play in the defensive 6 freeing up Frost to move into CHF.

Garland,TMac, Jetta

Salem, Dunn, Grimes

Vince, Jones, Stretch

Kent, Frost, Brayshaw

Watts, Hogan, Garlett

Gawn, Viney, VDB

I: Hames, Tyson, Kennedy, Pedo

This team gives us flexibility in both defense and attack. Frost, Watts and Pedo can all play in defence. Dunn, Pedo and gawn can all play in the Attack. Watched the round 23 game from last season the other night and Dunn did a serviceable job up forward. There are also a lot of runners for the midfield.

I agree, but he'll be playing forward.  Every training session and MS I've seen has him presenting as a forward.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
