Peter Jackson recommits to Demons

MELBOURNE has signed chief executive Peter Jackson to a new deal that will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2017 season. ... Jackson inked the new deal at a meeting with Demons president Glen Bartlett this morning.

Great news ...

Peter Jackson may become the most important person in the history of MFC....

I don't say that lightly....

His signature was all the more vital given Roos is stepping down as coach at the end of this coming year, as highlighted by Bartlett, "This is a good day for the club. We got on the front foot. With 'Roosy' doing the (coaching) handover next year I just thought it was important to have that stability".

Yew!!!! If we can have some on field success would love to see what kind of profit h the club could generate with PJ in charge.

Great news again from the club.

Also a good reminder for the coming season or 2.

"I'm sure there will be some tough times ahead and we might still get whacked from time to time but we are on the right path."

Great signature for the MFC. PJ has been critical in turning the fortunes of our great Club around. Like all of us, he deserves to share in the spoils of our future success, and it's great to hear him say as much (in his typical under-stated way of course).

I like where PJ's heart is at and the magnitude of work he has accomplished with his executive team. No easy task mind you.

14 seasons at the Bombers as CEO and managing director, head of AFL Victoria for four seasons and now MFC for two and a bit - will be four minimum.

He sticks to his task and wants to see it through. David Chippindall is also an important component of the financial side too (COO); it's great news and indeed an exciting time ahead I feel.

Good news and if we can get him to sign eventually until 2019 then that would be great. I think in the next few years, PJ should take on a protege to eventually replace him as CEO. He won't be here forever and it would be good for us to have a ready made replacement for when he does leave (I'm sure the job has taken 10 years off his life already).

That is a discussion for later on however and will bask in this re-signing for the moment.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
