Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Anyone that tall that can move, kick and bring others in to the play like Harry McKay must be considered.

He would be more adept at being a 2nd ruck than Weideman and Curnow and the fact that he is a year younger seals it in my mind.

McKay for pick 7.

Reminds me of Tom Lynch from Gold Coast. Similar height and movements.

Has a very similar way of marking the ball, jumps vertically and uses his height, takes it at the highest point and it makes him super hard to defend,

he's also just so mobile, absolutely elite below his knees for a guy his size and a very capable tackler.

if it were my choice he'd be coming to the MFC at pick #7

This is probably the knock on McKay

http://www.foxsportspulse.com/team_info.cgi?action=PSTATS&pID=199683400&client=1-118-10448-339768-20320238

The goals, marks and possessions really dried up after the champs. Although looking at the hitouts he seemed to ruck more. Less average marks, contested marks and goals (in 3 more games) than Curnow.

Obviously Weideman was injured and Curnow is raw and missed time, but McKay still counts as the most raw to me.

Seeing all 3 live this year, Harry is hard to measure to the other 2. Harry gets so much seperation due to his speed that he doesn't crash packs or take contested marks. Curnow and Weiderman have shown me they have this skill, Harry just has skills. I'm not anti-Harry but won't come on next year as really he is a 2017 prospect.

I've seen this comment come up a few times. You are either elite below the knees or not I reckon, forget the qualifier.

fair call, but i stand by it, of all the key forwards in this draft, i'd say he's the best below his knees, and very good in the air as well.

I was keen on what I saw at the champs, but with just 56 effective disposals and 56 INEFFECTIVE disposals in 13 games I am a little cooler. Twin brother Ben has similar figures (better efficiency) and strengths, also playing with Gippsland Power after making a late decision to try out. He may be a better option if we feel he will be there for our later picks?

Anyway, I haven't seen enough to be confident and in Taylor I trust.

I think this kid has just as "higher ceiling potential" as - to use a phrase from The List Manager - as Curnow as a key forward. I like the way he times his leads from the samples of footage I've seen, the way he goes to find the ball, gets up the field, crashes the packs, dishes off. I even like that he is a leftie. For me, right in the frame for pick 7.

and from what i've heard incredibly hard trainer, certainly fits the bills in terms of the types of personalities we're after.

Hogan is going to take the best defender most weeks, handy having a 200cm key who loves a contested mark getting the second best, leave Watts or Dawes the third.

IF he did become the second tall, for mine I would take Watts well ahead of Dawes as a third.

Poor kid doesn't even stand a chance with that 'religiously judgemental and narrow minded train of thought'.....

We've all read the poisonous bile and nasty vitriol you spew at the current government in power in the general discussions forum and most let it go (because its, well, you), but bringing an innocent kid into it is hitting way below the belt in my opinion.

Save your political opinions for the general discussions forum please.

I just read this, not hitting the kid at all, but that town warragul. As I stated, I don't know the kid, never met him, but I DO know the town & what its like, & what other people around Gippsland think of people of warragul, generally. and its not good.

.... its a very judgmental, narrow minded town, full of paranoid thoughts & people.

regarding McKay, I hope he isn't in that bracket as a person... but hard to escape it.

What on earth are you talking about?

I have lived here for 26 years and have not came across anything you have said..

You are quite the [censored]!

3820 represent

P*^%k of a town... I came across some of the best salvo's.... ugly ugly hateful & bigoted.

the working class people are quite nice. but they don't control the place.

If McKay turns out anything like Ablett Snr (who came from Drouin, 5 mins from Warragul), then we would be pretty happy.

Drouin is a fine town, with people who aren't up their own backsides. well known fact thru the area.

Is it a rural Borewood dc? Or is that Borewood is an urban Warragul?

its more an old world money in conservative town thing,,, re-enforced by church thinking... truly lousy, distrustful & divisive. but those people who are like that will know no other way & won't see what they do as an issue, as its their way.

Reminds me of Ben Brown of Nth Melb hopefully without the brain fades.

Ben Brown is a beauty,,, he will mature.

Has a very similar way of marking the ball, jumps vertically and uses his height, takes it at the highest point and it makes him super hard to defend,

he's also just so mobile, absolutely elite below his knees for a guy his size and a very capable tackler.

if it were my choice he'd be coming to the MFC at pick #7

disclaimer, for another 'plays small' type..

You have completely lost the plot.. You find these people in every single town, in fact why the [censored] am i responding to you and stooping to your level. Edited by dazzledavey36

Just been watching Mckay's and Weideman's highlights for a comparison - much prefer Harry's. Not having seen these guys live it's hard to judge well. however this kid is clean at ground level, seems to like more body contact and being in traffic than Weed (Weed seems on his own a he'll of a lot in his vids - won't get that grace in the big league). Will take the 2nd ruck spot once he gets in as well.

Looks a better frame to add bulk, yet bottom ager, scrapes in to this draft by a handful of days only - would probably go #1 next year if he was born a week later. May not be ready next year but gee a year of development and getting what should be next years best kid smells pretty good to me

Unless he doesn't fit the no DH rule - I want this kid at 7.

I will say that I prefer McKay to Weideman based on the (very) little I have seen.

But I will say that - despite my 'crusade' not to assume our midfield is in any way set - that these two excite me the most out of the players probably available at 7. Possible exception of Mathieson.

I do think the club came into trade week with a plan to get Parish and a tall and one of these two would be a good result.

I prefer Mckay because he seems more comfortable up the ground and he can help Gawn in the ruck. Weideman looks like he could be Taylor Walker but doesn't scream out talent like Hogan did before he was drafted (although not many do...).

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
