Anyone worthwhile out there?

Andrew Moore from PA just got delisted FYI.Retirements, delistings and trades

Apparently Moore, like the Bulldogs' Jarrad Grant and quite a few others, was shopped around during the trade period but no takers.

There are three delisted player Free Agency Periods over the next month with the first starting on Saturday 31 October and ending on Monday 9 November.

I can't see us being interested in any of these guys. We have only 3 or 4 selections in the draft at this stage, and a couple of rookie promotions which I think are more important.

The only exception would be if we paid out Terlich, and replaced him with someone like Moore, but it won't happen.

If we wanted a proper crack at finals next year, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in James Kelly or Jed Adcock for a year or two to see if they can give us some Daniel Cross-esque experience. One year from these guys is probably more use to us than another year of Terlich in the seconds.

However, it looks like Mahoney isn't interested in picking up any DFA (he said that before the recent delistings of Moore and Grant, though).

Will be interesting to see if Jamar gets a run anywhere - surely a team like Essendon could use an extra ruckman.

If we wanted Moore it would've been part of the Toump deal.

I thought that it was talked about at one stage?

Grant played 13 games this season in a good side and was shown the door. Someone will give him a run, possibly Carlton as a DFA.

Moore is an interesting one. Potential rookie list candidate?

i'm a big fan of andrew moore.

as we all know, he was the guy who broke blease's leg in a kick to kick of school footy, plus he was melbourne supporter as a kid too.

he's a big body, very tough in the clinches, has had excellent sanfl form for two seasons, and when he did get a go for port adelaide didn't look out of place - his 2014 finals series was pretty good.

Mahoney has said it's unlikely we will pick up any delisted players, very happy about this, Grant & Moore are list cloggers

I'm hoping they put J.Hunt on the rookie list, as I don't think he's signed up yet.

That will leave us with 1 more player we can pick up.

If we we're going down the Delisted FA path, I wouldn't mind us looking at Redden from Port. He will be a good back up to Gawn and Spenser, and only 24yrs old which is young for a ruckman. Put it this way, we need another Ruck through this path or the draft. We can't go through the whole season with 2 genuine rucks. That's my thoughts anyway.

I really think the powers game style didn't suit Moore, in a more contested side i think he'd prove to be a solid AFL player.

I really hope we have another good look at Moore.

Fits the age bracket. Has skills. Hard body. Wanted to come to the Dees at the time he got drafted by Port.

Pick him with, say, pick 160 in the national draft.

I think we are fine for ruckmen.

Not only do we have Gawn and Spencer, but Max King showing promise in the VFL, if we need a 3rd backup, we could easily give me a run and see how he goes

He's DFA - you can take him before the ND.

It's all about list spots at this point.

He played 19.

I hope we don't take any.

no DFA's this year for us.

We have bolstered our depth the last 24 months and dont need to add any NQR castoffs from other clubs. A good sign the list is improving.

Any players from that list we take will be in the rookie draft rather then as a DFA.

We certainly need another ruckman, so if we miss out on Nuyon in the draft, then we'll likely rookie Redden or Moller.

We're Jamar and Fitzpatrick down from this year so i think we need another ruckman. If Gawn and Spenser go down, we're rooted. I don't think King is an 80% game time ruckman. He's more your back up who can go forward in my opinion.

The Hawks were targeting Fitzy in the Delisted Free Agents list.

We help facilitate that by allowing the Hawks to pick him up in the draft for pick 94.

A pick we just won't use. There must be a pay back somewhere?

Have the Hawks got one that we may be targeting?

Pretty sure I saw that pick 94 mentioned in the category B rookie listing of Joel Smith. Which suggested to me at the time that the Mahoney knew we wanted another pick to get him on the list so worked out something with Hawthorn knowing they wanted Fitzy.

Pay back for Pick 94? There is nothing else to that trade other than a great club valuing a new recruit by getting him a week before they had to.

There is no need for a pick in the ND to put someone on the RL.

Again, nothing to see here. We were just allowing them to show what good clubs do to show recruits they value them.

Nah. The way I read it is the Hawks were paying us back from when we took Matt Jones off the Box Hill list.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
