NATIONAL DRAFT PICKS 3 & 7

Are you also reading into the talk that we seem to be looking at Curnow over Parish at pick 3?

I wouldn't be shocked if we went our preferred forward with 3 (if he wasn going to be there at 6/7), and then used 7 to get a Milera or Gresham type. Definitely a possibility if we're keen on a particular forward.

Guess it comes down to how highly we rate Parish. I'd back the club either way

Yeah, I think that Curnow is in the mix. Don't believe the club has made a final call, but little bits and pieces I've heard is that it's between Parish and Curnow.

My mail, from admittedly lesser sources than some others, is that if we take Parish at three the bombers will go Francis and Curnow. If we took Curnow at three they would snap up Parish at four and probably Weideman at five.

Of those two possiblities I think I'd prefer the first, but having missed out on two absolutely outstanding young forwards who looked a little small in the recent past, it is very hard to not want Curnow. You just have to wonder if he could be another Darling or Stringer.

Curnow highlights reminds me of Dawes a bit when the ball goes to ground. Not worth a pick 3 imo

Thanks for sharing. The only thing I would question here is why wouldn't the Bombers continue with taking Francis in the second scenaio?

Could it be they see Francis as a mid and therefore be substituting Francis for Parish? INTERESTING

Interestingly Cal Twomey on the podcast draft said there is actually some chance Parish could last to 7! And hinted that Essendon maybe aren't all that kean as they have maybe Francis and even Mileara in their sights!

Well it looks like Cal Twomey has now covered every possible scenario, and I'm sure he'll gloat when one of them comes up.

Then Essendon are feeding Twomey lies.

They want Parish - don't think the Dees would be that gullible.

It's like a broken clock being right twice a day. Although said broken clock has a strike rate of 8%, which would be leaps and bounds ahead of Twomey.

With the type of leaks coming out of our club of late (none) I'd say we are all speculating. That is fine but the certainty that some posters have is laughable. I wouldn't mind betting that the FD have a few scenarios planned, with nothing set in stone. Most of us were surprised with the Saints not taking Petracca last year, no doubt there may be surprises this year.

I got a feeling we might pick Ryan Burton at 7.

He sounds like a very interesting prospect. Much like Lever & Stringer in recent years.

He's been featured the last couple of days in Going Places (part II)on the AFL site.

I'm not sure we'll use a top 10 pick on him as it does sound like there are still some lingering effects from what was a very serious injury. Wouldn't be disappointed if the doctors and scouts did deem him fit enough and good enough for out #7, but I think it's unlikely.

Yeah that doesn't really make sense. Why would you go from Francis/Curnow to Parish/Weideman? Surely it would go Parish/Curnow or something like that.

If players are fairly evenly rated it will come down to supply and demand. That is why the saints went McCArtin last draft even though most rated Petracca at 1. ITs a no brainer that bigs are way harder to get than mids. Next years draft is supposed to be a mids draft, there are always mids coming out of contract or FA. Consensus opinion is Parish but if they take him at 3 i would think it's because they see one of the talls will be there at 7 as Salem was at 9. I just hope they pick up players who turn out guns regardless. Agree with MAnDee's sentiments in his post.t

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
