  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Fair enough, MW. Collingwood die-hards might not agree with you.

I guess I'm more of a sentimentalist. I'm old. I attended the 1964 grand final. I liked the 'good old days'. But each to his own.

When a player is on an AFL list the most important thing to them is their teammates. If there's no "go home" factor then there will be little to worry about - assuming he's playing in a successful side.

The bummers want a tall KPP and a mid fielder.

If we don't take Weideman, they will probably take him and Curnow who has the versatility to play forward, back or midfield.

We then get left with Parish and Francis. Not bad mind you, but a good tall and a Midfielder looks better.

No way we pick him at 3 that would be a terrible pick

If he gets picked at 3 it's because they believe he'll be able to produce his best consistently enough to be worth it. Frankly who has a clue this year other than professionals who have watched them over a number of years. I trust in Taylor & Co. The more I read the less clear I am. Our picks are a lottery this year. Any of a number of players could end up being the best in this draft and others could be dudds. We won't know for about 3-4 years. Big bodies like Oliver and Curnow might impact early while we might have to wait a few years for Parish. Actually that sounds a hell of a lot like Toumpas. Aaahhh! I rest my case. Who knows.

3.21 20m sprint

12.4 beep.

Not great numbers. But considering his injuries and size not the end of the world either. I don't think those numbers would prevent you from drafting him. But they aren't impressive.

Yep makes me think pick 7 instead of 3 for him.. if Bombers pick him with 4/5 then id go Harry M at 7

Today is a hot day which needs to be taken into consideration for those numbers.

Different conditions.

Also our pick 46 and 50 can become picks 34 and 38 if teams burnt through a lot of points on academy players. A player like Rioli could potentially skip through.

Hasn't played since May this year after having his second bout of ankle surgery so I've heard. Not only that, he's a stay at home Full Forward.

Yet posters are concerned with his beep test and 20 metre sprint test results?

Absurd.

Clubs would be happy in knowing that he was able to complete these tests. Simply.

There's nothing else to it.

WTF were y'all expecting?

It's a tick off the list in my eyes. Had he not been able to complete the tests due to persisting injuries, it'd be different.

But it's not.

Wonder what Jake Stringer and Lever would have scored in these tests 6 months after serious injuries...

But what if it's more of an impact of the iron deficiency he's had for a couple of years (before the ankle injury)?

He has fully recovered from his injury. If it still is restricting him then it's gonna be like that his entire career

We should get a thorough report from the Richmond doctor soon enough.

Clearly the beep test is very important as demonstrated by the record holders...

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
