My favourite part of grand final day

The best thing about the grand final is that its over and now we can get down to the happy period of the year, drafting. Where every demon supporter is filled with hope and promises of things that could be. This is not to be confused with the start of the new season where hope usually gets a serious battering if not completely flushed down the toilet.

My least favourite thing today was seeing some blind drunk, hobo-resembling Eagles supporter verbally abusing Ross Lyon as he walked away from the G by himself.

In true Ross Lyon style he just kept walking while muttering under his breath.

An interesting stat was Nik Nat's 3 kicks, 1 handpass for a total of 4 possessions. Plus 3 tackles and 37 hit outs which were mainly sharked by the likes of Mitchell and co. No marks. Imagine what Jack Watt's critics would be doing if he produced such miserable figures. NN is highly overrated in my opinion and some Eagles supporters I know.

His first kick was in the first ten seconds of the game too.

Agree with this. I thought NN was exposed on the big stage. Eagles fans will tell you that his stats aren't important, it's the other intangibles he brings. Pressure, tackling, ground ball knock ons etc. Yesterday the Eagles were screaming out for a marking target as they brought the ball out of the backline & they got nothing.

He is a media darling which is not his fault but I'd suggest if he looked like Sam Jacobs you'd never hear about him.

Anyone see how Bernie went at the kick the footy over the river thing?

He looked horribly hungover and basically said as much when asked how he was feeling.

Love Bernie. He and Tex would've been up to some serious mischief on Friday night.

Something about having cab drivers in the sprint at the expense of seeing a Dees player for a few seconds really irks me with the way everything is for sale with the AFL.

Sure we would have come last but with the loss of the u19s that we could once watch on GF day followed by the ressies, then the main game and then the sprint, there was always something there that showed the world the MFC did actually exist.

Now what little bit of possible tiny exposure on the biggest day of the year was sold to some cabbies?

Have I got it all wrong? Did the MFC refuse to participate?

Meth Coast getting beat was the best part, they will improve as will others and they missed a golden opportunity today froze like rabbits in the headlight and nobody in the middle stepped up when Priddis was targeted as the go to man. Thank Christ they didn't win it would have been unbearable and now a large amount of their fans who are mostly fair weather supporters will disappear again, hopefully for a very long time

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
