Why would we not be in the conversation for Treloar?

Agree we don't seem to be, curious as to why?

Probably because he has absolutely no interest in coming to us. Which is why only Collingwood and Carlton (PSD) seem to be in the conversation at this point.

I'm getting really sick of clubs like St. Kilda and Carlton getting nominated over us! We're not any worse than they are, in fact this year's ladder would demonstrate we're as good if not better. It just really gets on my nerves when they could flat out reject any interest from us and then go on to be open to a move to Carlton. Or bloody Carlisle nominating St. Kilda! I dunno, good on them...but sometimes I look at it and think really?? We're not THAT bad surely.

Maybe (definitely) I'm just bitter.

Do we actually know what is going on and maybe we have looked at and are not interested in some of these players.

Our club is no longer a sieve.

We have had a few very quiet coups under the new regime

I will wait with great interest, speculate a bit, and see what our professionals do.

The deal to Collingwood is not necessarily a certainty according to GWS

could we steal him ?

This from Trade Radio:-

Treloar nominated the Magpies as the club he wants to play for next year, but Allan told NAB AFL Trade Radio that he may not make it there.

"There's a lot of clubs speaking to us about him. They should, he's a great player," Allan said.

Treloar's manager Peter Blucher has previously said Treloar would have re-signed with GWS if the Giants had put forward an offer he and Treloar considered reasonable.

However, Allan insisted the Giants' contract offer was adequate.

"We put a very good offer on the table for Adam," he said.

"Unfortunately we couldn't come to terms."

Allan said even though Treloar had nominated the Magpies, that didn't mean he had control over his future.

"Peter also knows it's not free agency. People can nominate where they want to go (but that) doesn't mean they get there," he said.

Perhaps Giants are just holding out for a bit to wait for a few other cards/draft picks to drop.

Hopefully we've just had a whisper...we might be able to offer you a bit extra for a Bugg/Treloar combo. Just wait until we offload Howe.

Hopefully we can land North's first rounder or even second rounder.

It could be a our first rounder this year, next year and throw in a second round pick for a Bugg/Treloar trade.

Just me dreaming. Reality is quite unlikely.

Why is Treloar not our number one target?

He, Wines, Mitchell and Prestia are the best under 23 midfielders in the game, and Treloar wants a return to VIC.

We should be a major player for his services, and he is worth any long term deal.

Parker is under 23 and better than all of them.

This isn't a rumor, just a hypothetical.

If Howe is traded for pick 15 (North's pick, and of course just speculation that this would happen), would pick 6, 15, 43 be enough to get Treloar and Bugg?

If not, what needs to be added/substituted to make it work?

You need to have atleast have 3 live picks in the draft.

"Peter also knows it's not free agency. People can nominate where they want to go (but that) doesn't mean they get there,"

Finally.

It's about time someone came out and said this. These junior players keep coming out and "nominating" a club they want to play for as if they have some sort of special right to do so. They don't. They are not free agents. If they keep switching clubs they'll never be free agents. If they aren't happy with their contract they have an existing avenue to better it, that being the PSD where they can name their price. When they sign up to the AFL, they agree to take part in the draft with no control over where they will wind up playing. Now every kid who thinks he has market value is trotting out this line about "I nominate club (x) as my preferred destination" as though the AFL owes them the right to make that choice. Hell no! I despise Gubby Allen, but at least he's had the courage to put it out there.

Speaking of which, we all know to take Gubby with a grain of salt. He'll try any manipulation to get the result he wants, so it's just as likely that he's encouraging other clubs to enter the race simply to get more out of the Pies. That being said, he has opened that door and the MFC would be utterly failing in their duty to the team and the supporters if they didn't put in a bid on this kid. Even if the only result is to drive up the price the Pies pay, that would help in the long run.

You need to have atleast have 3 live picks in the draft.

Incl. Vandenberg upgrade = 2 live picks.

Incl. Harmes upgrade = 1 live pick.

Might move Toumpas for a half reasonable pick and sit back content to have Treloar, Bugg, Melksham and pick 40ish from this trade period.

Not sure why the heck people think we could get pick 15 for Howe. See Redden trade.

Also just wanted to ask. Treloar has nominated Collingwood as his prefered destination. As far as I know both teams usually make this happen for a high end player.

What have been some other cases where a player clearly wants to go to one club but lands somewhere else?

Treloar ISNT a free agent . GWS want its pound of flesh. If they feel they can only deal with one club they wont get full whack.

Its a bit of brinkmanship by Gubby...but funny things happen in trade weeks.. Cracks open, opportunities present..All fun and games

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
