Watt's going on?

Harry Plopper

Recommended Posts

Roosy said in his latest interview that there were many meetings over the past month, to quickly improve the side so that by Round 1 next year, we will have a very experienced team that is going to be consistent for 4 quarters.

I just wonder about the players on the fringe watching a bloke like Watts continually gifted games. Whilst these others bust their guts and don't get a look in. It must feel demoralising.

Consistency should run through the whole club. If you don't put in get dropped and work on your difficiencies.

You then get reviewed at the end of the year and told your future is no longer at Melbourne.

Apparently this type of review has been done with the football dept. they have set up a type of team that will be required next year to take the next big step. I would love to see that white board and who they are targeting and who is on the outer.

Who? Everyone has had a run this year. The guys are Casey are mostly crap that we have seen million times before (Matt Jones etc).

Watts is gone, spoke to Jackson and Rawlings in the room - he didn't ask to be dropped, they're putting him up for trade because his heart isn't in it/his last month has proven that.

Source is directly from peter Jackson and Rawlings mouth.. I was there with my Dad who knows them.

They just said they're gonna put Jack out there and see if they can get anything for him and that just his attitude towards playing for the Dees has been disappointing and that's why they essentially dropped him from the 2s as well- and saying how having Harmes, White, Viney, Stretch etc were just a better fit in the team clearly, and no chance of picking up Yarran because he's too much of a risk to pick up.

Seeing wattsy in the rooms though, he gets on well with everyone but maybe he might also want a fresh start elsewhere and is happy to go up for trade. If no one wants him maybe it will be a reality check and get him to work harder.

Do you seriously, even if you did say it in bold type, want us all to believe that Jackson and Rawlings would make these sort of major statements / comments "in the room" in the presence of random people???

If they actually did them our club is in even deeper [censored] than we all think.

this sounds right... I really hope Wattsy ends up at GCSuns. He needs to be under Rocket Eade. Eade will teach him, & make a man of him, especially away from his Ma & Pa.

IMO, this is the move he needs to make, to grow real independence, & learn to flourish in AFL.

careful or you will make fools of those posting that no one ever attacks Watts personally, it's just his football. Of course you mean make a man of him solely in footy terms and his mother is stopping him by refusing to darn his socks.

You sense eh PD that the actuality of change is about to catch up with intent. With what Roos espoused , combined with the outlook of Macca that things are about to ramp up a tad

In short....all you nqr's line up over there...take a number, your cab will be long shortly

Well, it's an auspicious dropping...

It is obviously a message and an indication.

BUT I want value, you don't build lists by just getting rid of talent - however unrealised that talent is.

Sylvia got us Vince, Frawley got us Brayshaw, Scully got us Hogan.

So, yeah, trade and move on if you want to but don't get ND33 and tell me we did the right thing.

Not in this bloody draft especially.

I'd prefer a future draft pick, but are we really that desperate to "cut our losses"?

I'm definitely not.

I'd be surprised if a few poor games and a dropping would undo all the good work Watts did for about 10 weeks in a row. Not now. Not with light at the end of the tunnel.

He's a free agent next year and would fetch decent compo so if there wasn't a good deal on offer this year then there's no need to panic.

It seems to me that people are now accepting he will be traded, based on that fb rumour and conversation with PJ. Has there been any other information, or has the rumour just snowballed into fact?

Last week on 360 Roos 'warned' supporters of an active trade period.

At the time I thought/posted no need to 'warn' us, an active trade period is what we wanted!

Maybe, dropping Watts was to prepare ('warn') his supporters for the trade and to soften the blow.

I don't listen after the "The members are to blame " story LH.

All will be revelled over the next two months until it happens it is just Roos speak.

I think he was dropped because the selection team thought we had a better chance of winning by replacing him with some one who would play better.

They were right. I don't know where he will fit in. If you look at those who will come in at the start of next year (Kent, AVB, maybe Petracca), two or three from Sunday will have to give way. I van't see Watts getting in front of the ins, and I reckon all of Sunday's are ahead of him. Maybe JKH....

Roos stated that being inconsistant is what he will be fixing over the offseason , if your a senior player that can only play ten good ok games you are what he is going to fix . See ya .

He also stated that he wants players who want to be at the club if your not sure its by by . All in yesterdays presser , gone are watts howe and probably garland id say .

Add in terlich , m jones , bail , jamar ( tiges ) , mckenzie , maybe riley ( id keep him ) cross . 8-10 players gone imo .

Yes, like me. I grew up without support from family. Except doting mum, but distant dad & attacking older sister, in a household with NO discussion. TV talk, but no personal issues discussed. Naturally a pacifist as my mum was, I grew only a shell of resistance, & easily intimidated with aggression. but I didn't know how tough I was inside

Jack I see as different circumstances, a pacifist, & totally nice guy, as his family is, but is not a warrior because of his nature. he is strong inside, but not rugged.

IF, he wants to be an AFL Star, IF, IMO he should move away from family influences, & go interstate & let go & allow himself, to be influenced by a coach like Rocket Eade..

I'm sorry sue if this honesty on my part brings up feelings within you of an attack, but this is my way of trying to leave no misunderstanding of my words, I see I have failed that intent with you.

you see, as that inner pacifist, I don't have a destructive desire in my soul. only a creative desire.

these words I posted were a wish to see a win-win, Re Jack, for us to move on & gain some form of compensation, & for Jack to see his abilities come to some fruition. I want to see the interstate teams grow & prosper in a footy club sense.

... and you seem somehow to have turned this into a sexist discussion when its not. see its really simple, physical contact sport isn't pacifist, it is aggressive.

oh, and there are plenty of aggressive women & girls out there in the community, far more aggressive than JW is on-field.

Honestly, GTFO if you think Paul Roos thinks that.

You can't bemoan Roos-speak and then take such insult from his words 'if you take it literally, and read it in this way...'.

The guy has been a bloviator of whimsy for a decade and yet here are sane, functioning humans who are convinced an excellent coach thinks 'fans are to blame.'

We just love being the poor, little victim, getting it from all sides.

"Even the coach hates us!" decried the poor little Dees fan as he explained his lot to his colleagues, mentioning that Hogan might leave for WA so he doesn't want to get his hopes up too much. "He will probably do a knee anyway!" he said with a nervous laugh before agreeing with the vacuous Hawthorn supporting contractor that 'some clubs just aren't meant to keep playing football.' When the fat, balding [censored] said "I think Dees supporters would be happier back playing in the VFL," the poor little Dees fan briefly shot his eyes wide but then remembered his place: "well, we are playing at that level aren't we?" he said with a self-loathing smile. The consoling, condescending pat on the back from the Hawk, who really only has followed the game since 2008, was married with a "maybe you'll be out of the bottom four next year, hey?"

The poor little Dees fan could have corrected him but what would be the point he asked himself - they will probably be back there next year anyway...

Wow D-L, you certainly see a lot of what is not there. Sexist discussion?

If you want to be clearer in what you write, I suggest you don't use phrases like 'make a man of him' and expect people to read it in the way you have now tried to explain.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
