Not a fan of Riley, hasn't taken his chances when given to him.

He played really well against the Dogs as the sub although that's probably the only time he's stood out. He's a hard tackler though and I think he deserves a game or 2

A convincing win over Carlton and we'll be talking up a last round win over GWS and the prospect of 8 wins. 8 wins after 4 last year will seem like solid progress and a good launching pad for Roos' last season as we attempt to make the top 8. It's been a rough week but we've got to take a big picture approach.

Couldn't agree more - and FWIW I believe we WILL win both those matches and finish on 8, and all the trolls and sadsacks who are currently bleating will be forced to re-address their assessment of the season

I friggin hope so any way

I see Matthew Watson has been included in Carlton's squad. If he plays he'll be praying he doesn't line up on Hogan, who towelled him up as an 18 year old playing for Casey on his way to 6 against the Bullants.

Watson is a forward now

I just need to put it out there that losing is not an option this week.

I'm going with two of my closest friends who are both dirty filthy Carlton supporters. Loser buys drinks post game.

This is serious stuff.

Hogan to kick 8. Come on.

Matt Jones card stamped it seems.

Well if Grimes is dropped his are too. Is he part of midfield rotations. If the answers no then he doesn't play this week.

And yes that would make me happy.

Hope Newton and Riley get a go

Yep me too.

Peeved though, perfect opportunity to blood White against "Rank" opposition, we had a chance to make a statement, be bold, daring pluck a kid from obscurity and whadawe do ?

Gees the selectors are !*^@ weak!

Trengove, Grimes, Watts etc. are all examples of guys who weren't ready when they debuted. Give the selectors the benefit of the doubt, I'm sure they made the right call, wouldn't want to kill his career before it even began.

Can see your point but it aint a debut vs Hawks or Shockers it is Vs Carltank!!

If there has to be three dropped for the game then I would drop Grimes, Bail and Jamar.

Brayshaw as the sub.

How can you drop Jamar when he hasn't been named in the starting 22 since Gawn came in?

Apparently on 3AW they were saying Gawn and Lumumba could be late outs on Sunday?

I have no problem with HL however I question why you would change Gawn this week!

Dropping from the I/C is what I mean.

Maybe both have niggling injuries.

to stop your whinging we would need to go undefeated, so the point is moot really

They were your words just drawing attention to them.

Do you want to retract?

No Tyson is disappointing. Lumumba holding his spot likewise.

Bail holding his spot over M Jones is surprising.

If Carlton aren't tanking (they may be, I don't know), I can easily see us losing this game. We are a better side, a much better side, but that doesn't seem to matter for us.

And if not Carlton, it would have had far more to say about Melbourne's pitifully weak and inept performance against the Western Bulldogs which saw another bloodbath at the Docklands, giving the stadium under the roof a combined losing margin from two AFL games of 35 goals.

If that's not a very good advertisement for our game then I would like to know what could be worse than those two results and how the AFL managed to sell six years of broadcast rights in their aftermath for $2½ billion. Even if you leave Essendon and its drug issues aside, if Gillon McLachlan can pull off that sort of thing then what price the Sydney Harbour Bridge?

Surely you are not suggesting that a $2.5 billion deal is all worked out on one weekend and that the results of two games would have any impact on the final price?

Or are you suggesting that Rupert Murdoch had the wool pooled over his eyes?

But actually, I'm sure that you aren't being serious, - are you?

One would presume that IF Gawnius Maximus is out this week it is illness / injury. No way he would be dropped.

Trenners like Scully were both very very good as debutants in 2010 and both RS nominees that season

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
