Trengove will never play again imo

Well you may know more than him.

I spoke to him recently and he is very confident of resuming his career next year.

Sound footing from the 'source' perspective.

Back the FD on this one.

Though it would be exciting to see Bennell as part of our new look midfield: Jones, Vince, Tyson, Viney, Trengove, Vandenberg, Brayshaw, Petracca and Dangerfield.

When someone says imo it means in my opinion as in speculation. I do not claim that i have any inside info on Trenners but id be genuinely surprised if he plays again.

Considering many of us have spent a summer or two scrolling for your Melbourne Bitter for updates on rumours you have started - forgive us for pushing for clarification on whether it was or wasn't your opinion.

It's called drug abuse. Use of illegal drugs is not OK under any circumstances.

Holy [censored], give it a rest mate. Drugs arent good or evil, they can be abused and they can be great - just like most things in life.

Laughable to pass on a player of this calibre because of a few off field activities that every second AFL player dabbles in.

Worked out well for Hawthorn and Dayle Garlett.

With Bennell, from everything that's been said, including from sympathetic scribes like Emma Quayle, the issues (problems) go a bit deeper than "a few off-field activities".

As others have posted, happy to trust the club on this. But once again, for all his football prowess, the Suns have decided they'd be better off without him. That's a big call.

Bennell's played 81 games and had 5 years in the system.

Garlett is a silly analogy.

Actually i just remembered the rumour we had a crack at Toby Greene last year tweeted by someone or other - clearly the no dh policy doesnt apply when you are desperate

Jack will play again, now whether he plays well enough to get back into the side is another matter. As for Bennell it will all come down to his attitude and his ability to persuade roos and co that he can turn him self around and commit to the club., if he can do than then I would certainly take him if we can. Sometimes players need a rude awakening getting the boot from the suns may do him a world of good.

I'd take a bunch of DH over the blokes we drafted before Viney and Taylor came along....

Come on mate

It's clearly Trengove's wish to get back to playing footy, the least you can do is support him

By reading the last few pages of this thread anyone would be forgiven for thinking it's a done deal and only the formalities remain.

I love how us supporters set ourselves up for disappointment during trade periods.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
