Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL Round 13 - they're all non MFC Games

glad we didn't get malceski - 4 disposals in 3 quarters

Worst recruit of the year, by the length of the Flemington Straight.

Not sure why - maybe not having the Swans team around him has exposed his weaknesses, or maybe he just doesn't care up on the Gold Coast anymore.

so, a broadcaster includes print media?

anyway, i was questioning the term "independent"

You are nit-picking about separating broadcast vs print as that somehow demolishes my point. Especially as the distinction between the two is vanishing.

Anyway I was addressing the term 'independent' and pointing out that there is little independence in Murdoch's media. Murdoch's non-print media was no different on the Iraq war than his uniform print media. But the uniformity in his print media is more glaring since there are so many so-called independent ones.

Anyway back to the footy - The Suns will recover once they get their injury list down I think.

well i never brought up murdoch or any other specific media entity

and....i never claimed any were "independent" or balanced

and....i'm still at a loss to understand what the op meant by "independent" and why it was relevant

i hope he wasn't implying that if you weren't privately owned that you were somehow unbiased and completely balanced

anyway, yes, the suns currently make good witches hats despite carlton's incompetence

no doubt getting half a doz good players back should help, but the current drug saga wouldn't be helping either

Both these teams are hot garbage, Suns moreso.

Malceski clearly went to Gold Coast for the wrong reasons. Hard to believe they gave him 3 years at $500k.

not as bad as k hunt at a mill per year, but

it's only our money, not theirs

How about that - I hate the Blues again!

Lovely fans who take the time out of celebrating to boo the last kick of the game, and bronx it when it hit the post.

Why would you stop hating them?

Cant remember....was that trade done before Eade arrived?? Either way it's not working.

The press reports that the AFL is investigating Mitchell's offensive gesture to Ess players?

Shouldn't the AFL/MRP investigate Goodes' equally offensive squeeze on Hunt?

The Stevie J swing on McVeigh was looked at by the MRP (no action taken).

Goodes' incident of similar intention but looked even more deliberate.

Caught red handed, you might say.

Should be looked at by AFL/MRP, IMO

If you have seen the footage and not the still photo of adam goodes then you would realise how silly this is

Everyone has their own view which is fine.

Kevin Bartlett and Patrick Smith just said on radio the AFL should look at it so it may not be so silly.

They are usually neutral and have well reasoned views on general footy matters.

The point was if offensive behaviour happens on field it is appropriate the AFL be consistent.

There are other recent examples eg alleged sledging of Mitch Clark, the Dusty cross-arm prison gesture etc. etc.

Whether there is any action or penalty is an entirely different issue.

I didn't suggest that any penalty should apply.

Consistency was the point of the post.

Has it been stated anywhere that the MRP won't look at the Goodes/Hunt incident? I imagine that given the amount of media coverage, they will look at the footage and then decide what action, if any, to take. However, I'm not sure that your comment comparing it to the Mitchell gesture is valid. Mitchell's was a mimed sledge while Goodes' was a supposed tackle (excuse the pun) action in the course of play. I think Mitchell's actions shouldn't be looked at at all... it was a sledge and nothing more.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
