Misso's injury report's a cracking read this week isn't it? Holy smoke!

Outs: Grimes (inj) Pedersen (inj) Neal Bullen (omit)

In: Dawes, Fitzpatrick or Newton (depending on fitness), M Jones

reprieves for Gawn (must be given a benchmark to take at least 2 contested marks a game) and Michie (no subs vest please, make Stretch the sub).

Fitzy to play fwd/ruck, Lumumba to the backline in place of Grimes, Matt Jones to the mid rotation, Stretch to wear the vest. Are we going to see Terlich any time this season?

Viv if it's wet, he is very effective when the fame is one paced, otherwise it has to be some run, Bail or Jones or Harmes.

I might be the only one on here who does not think Matt Jones is no good. He has his shortcomings but I genuinely believe he has outside run, gets to the right places, is solid overhead and will offer more than others.

He flashes AFL attributes but his decision making is poor and his kicking is only marginally better than Bail's. Plus he makes a lot of little mistakes with things like fumbles and poorly executed tackles.

I agree if it's wet that might be enough to keep Michie in. But if it's dry it might have to be one of those 3.

I know it would make us super young but I'd love to see Harmes get a chance.

Ouch 12 on the injury list and not many back in the near future. No Pederson means a question about who will be the relief ruckman with Frosty and Pederson out. Dawes isn't an option so do they play Gawn up forward and ruck with Jamar or Pencil and play Hogan at CHF or does Fitzy fill that role. No Grimes means another back man required.

Out Pederson, Grimes Michie

In Dawes, Fitzpatrick, Bail

Jetta McDonald Fitz

Howe Dunne Cross

Toumpas Vince Lumumba

Watts Dawes Garlett

Viney Hogan Brayshaw

Gawn Tyson Jones

Stretch Bail Newton Sub Neal-Bullen

Unfortunately I think Terlich will be in to replace grimes... There is no other logical replacement

White?

I haven't followed Casey close enough this year to know wether he is up to it or not. But considering Terlich was named on an extended bench 2 weeks ago means his there abouts. Although it sends shudders through me thinking of him in the side

Fitzy back in. Gives us 6 defenders with McDonald, Dunn, Jetta, Cross, Lumumba. Use a midfielder (Toump, Watts, Brayshaw, Bail, Michie etc) to pinch in on a back flank as required.

White?

Would be an inspired move, but look, he uses the footy very very well, knows how to get a kick, is disciplined, courageous, can kick a goal and has some X Factor!

Given our season is Shiiizzenhuisen!

Why the hell not!??

Let's blood for the future of MFC!

I think White should also he considered.. If Vandenberg has shown us anything, it's that guys who have a go and also have some skill set then they will be more than useful in this side.

I suppose JKH wont come in if he only played for the Development squad? Did have 24 touches in limited game time however

Out: Pedersen, Grimes, ANB, Michie

In: Dawes, Fitzpatrick, MJones, Bail (S)

That is downright depressing.

I'm going with:

Out: Grimes, Pederson, Michie

In: Dawes, White, Fitzpatrick

I'd like to see ANB get another run as it takes a couple of AFL games to really get the speed. Also minimal changes are good for team balance. It sounds like White has been defending well and is a much better kick than Terlich so I think he should get a run. If it's wet switch Fitzpatrick with Michie- though he is good to have as a ruck back up as I don't think Dawes can do it.

The team:

B: Jetta McDonald Fitzpatrick

HB: Lumumba Dunn White

C: Toumpas Jones Viney

HF: Howe Hogan Brayshaw

F: Garlett Dawes Watts

R: Gawn Tyson Vince

Int: Stretch Cross Riley

S: ANB

F No. Jamar would be a bloody statue. Dawes can at least run, chase tackle and split the defence.

Not sure how much game time he [Dawes] had MS, Inside Football said he took 3 marks and kicked 1 goal

I rest my case, Your Honour.

Dawes is a KPF who cannot mark, cannot kick goals or even get his hands on the pill. He's a liability until he has 2-3 weeks of BOGs at Casey. Anyone over 6'5" would would be better atm

Pederson goes out through injury, but beyond that I don't know that we'll see wholesale changes. Jamar comes in for Pederson, play him predominantly as a forward and rucking every now and then.

I saw that Brayshaw looked proppy in the last quarter, hopefully he'll be right. He been one of our best in recent weeks. Perhaps one of ANB or Stretch to go out and bring in some seasoned bodies. I reckon Geelong will try to monster the players with rough play and big tackles, we need guys that can give it back.

I'm heading up the freeway for this game, hopefully it's not a massacre.

I suspect that the powers that be will bring in Dawes, despite him having done very little and not being able to mark: I too would prefer Jamar, or Spencil.

These last 4 injuries really hurt us.

Not a fan of Dawes returning, would rather have him in the VFL again, however I can understand

Anyone know anything else about Fitzy/Newton's chance for next week?

I agree. I thought he was solid in a half against the Pies. Should definitely be in before Bail

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
