Mick is no fool, read what he said.

"Steven Trigg assured us when he arrived here 'Don't take it too personally, we – being Adelaide – had him stitched up 18 months out’," Malthouse told SEN.

What does stitched up mean? Mick said exactly enough to get the desired outcome. It could mean verbally Eddie said he was interested. Which is probably what happened.

PS: I do not trust Trigg. He has been caught cheating before. You know what they say, leopards, spots.

Agreed, but I still think Mick went too far on this one.

Collingwood must really hate Carlton. They are offering them a new coach again!

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-05-27/buckley-endorses-assistants-as-carlton-coaching-search-begins

COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley has endorsed his assistants as Carlton looks for candidates to fill its coaching vacancy for 2016.

He said Robert Harvey, Scott Burns and Ben Hart had built good resumes, and while selfishly he would like to retain them he would also like to see them get an opportunity as senior coaches.

"I'm rapt with our high quality character and acumen of our staff, not only with our coaching department but with our whole football program," Buckley said.

"We have got some coaches on the panel that have been able to put together a fair body of work and are doing fantastic work in here.

"I'll be talking in glowing terms about all of those guys, because I would love to see them get the opportunity in due course."

CFC is the new MFC.

We may have finally passed on the "basket case" award. Their older players are their best players. Judd will retire seasons end, Murphy is a shadow of the player he was a few years back. with his well documented chronic injuries. Combine this with the loss of Judd and its clear his best is well behind him. Gibbs is over rated, Krouger does not have the body for AFL football. Their entire forward line has either been sacked, moved on or walked. Their recruiting and player development and culture is equally as poor as ours at our worst........ and that says a lot.

They are in the poo alright. They will be even worse next year............. I am loving it.

I know, even am close to, quite a few Carlton supporters and I do feel for them.

It is a tricky balancing act - the Carlton Football Club Establishment which has played backroom above-the-law deals for decades can rot as far as I'm concerned, but I wouldn't wish an "MFC 2010-14" experience on any honest supporter. Must remember that the fans still bothering to turn up to their games are the ones who, probably ten or twelve years ago, had to make the 'my club thick or thin' decision.

It is sad when people are punished for loyalty. I almost hope Carlton do something truly appalling to give their share of 'good, honest' supporters a reason to make a clean break. Like a relationship that has dragged on unhappily for many years, and finally the much needed infidelity comes and everyone can move on and be happy again.

Still... if major systematic salary cap cheating, widespread boozing accompanied by [exactly as much illegal drug taking as it is safe to mention on a public forum, and not one pill or snort more], multiple bog-awful board interventions and acrimonious coach sackings, blatant and humiliating tanking, underworld connections, botched stadium re-developments and attempts to salvage them with backroom political leverage, ridiculous marketing campaigns, the neglect of player leadership development in the shadow of Chris Judd, and somehow managing to accumulate huge debts (still $5m) despite having marquee players and commercially favourable fixtures.

What was I saying? Oh, yes, if you're still sticking with Carlton after all that, what would it take to make you leave them? Maybe it is a kind of 'boil the frog' thing. As long as they happen one at a time, people will strain their way through it.

I don't think it should come as any great surprise that most of these deals with free agents are made well in advance.

I am sure Frawley was stitched up very early and the signs are Howe is in the same boat.

And you can't tell me that rat $cully didn't make his mind up from the word go - or probably Fat Phil made the decision for him.

It's going to happen more and more and anybody that says I'll wait until the end of the year to decide is gone until proven otherwise.

The 4rse fell out of Carlton's attendance numbers after the loss to the 'pies.

Lions - Ethiad - 20,300

Giants - Etihad - 16,700

Cats - Etihad - 32,000

Swans at the SCG this friday, then...

Crows MCG

Power MCG

Suns Etihad

Bulldogs Etihad

Got to wonder if they'll even average 20,000 over those four games.

This is starting to get too horrible to look at.

Surely Carlton would be silly not to atleast give this bloke a call.

I believe his pre game tactics would surprise a lot of clubs when facing them.

http://www.bordermail.com.au/story/3103335/look-whos-up-and-about/?cs=11

But who would coach them for away games? And for games when the pub is open?

Malthouse did not fail Carlton, Carlton failed malthouse, i think mickey wanted to get back into coaching and prove Eddie wrong so bad, that he did not study the blues list closer enough, he believed what Carlton were telling him, that their list was close to a flag, in reality they were about to fall of the cliff.

I think they All did the things they did for the wrong reasons, & maybe e'd even ended mnm's time with the pies, trying to maintain jock mchale's coaching games record intact.

it's almost like a series of wrongs brought about bad luck for all.

big decisions deserve big respect, for all the right reasons.

bad kama followed them all. & so far still is.

Has anyone else heard that we are very very interested in Yarran?

we should be... Roosy is just the fella to get him to perform well. to instill the right attitudes into his game.

Did anyone else think it was odd that Judd fronted the media on behalf of the players and not the captain?

Would have made some sense to have Judd and Murphy to do it together and share the dialogue.

To only have Judd makes Murphy's leadership quite difficult. Diminishes his standing IMO.

Murphy seems a really nice bloke and has shown patches of good form but he hasn't shown much leadership

Would expect Murphy to be eased out of the captaincy next year.

Sad for him but probably the best for the team and the club.

does anyone wonder, if judd had any play in all this, at all.

maybe visy could pay judd to do a coaching course, & then he could

I had some sympathy for Mick, up until his interview yesterday morning. Whether he felt aggrieved by his former employer or not, it was a total lack business courtesy to try and bring others down with him. None of us know the facts, but given the accusation he made against Trigg, defamation may not be out of the question and his expected payout may be affected.

keeping things 'in closet' only aid corrupt business.

& the truth is the victim, as are naive punters

Why can't Mick set the record straight on Eddie Betts leaving?

Blues fans and admin will blame Mick for their misfortunes and he isn't prepared to be used in that way. Given his own CEO told him it was otherwise (i.e. that the Betts deal was sewn up a while back).

I think he can, but its not like him to dish the dirt so much.

I suspect mick had the dirty done on him, by the board, & by trigg... the Kama wheel keeps on spinning

Judd's leadership is abysmal as well

we dodged a bullet back then, but our own bullets got us anyway.

finally we can stop tripping over our own tangled laces, & soon we will stand on our own 2 feet once again... but I worry that the same mistakes will re-enter the fray from the Nth; yet again to slowly eek away all the good hard work done by many footy smart people..

Oh, you cynic. Of course we will. As always.

hah, what the afl integrity officer investigating the carlton brown baggers, where he himself once collected their accolades. & captained that prize fixing mob. don't tell me he is going to investigate them...

I'd rather gatto investigate the Lygon St mobsters, than fitzy trying to lay straight.

I agree that he wanted to be sacked and payed out in full. That was fairly obvious to all but the Carlton Board up until Tuesday at around 8am. He behaved much like he did in his final year at Collingwood. The 'I' in Michael is well placed. The club has not extended my contract so the assistant coaches are worried about their futures and my wife is upset. The players are upset because the club has announced the need for a rebuild etc

His coaching record at Carlton is one of abject failure. Has any other newly appointed Coach delayed starting the job to go on a book tour? Daisy Thomas coming off a serious ankle injury on a 4 year deal at around $700,000 a year? Liam "The Explosive Animal' Jones on a 3 year deal on around $250,000 a year. Simply put his ego and hurt saw him susceptible to the Blues batting their eyelids and saying he was the coach they needed to take their list to a flag. The reality was their list needed a complete rebuild when he took over and as one of the most experienced coaches in the history of the game that should have been clear to him. It was not and the Blues are now in a world of hurt. Sure there are many others at fault at Carlton - The President, Board, Recruiters etc - but Mick's role canniot be understated.

My votes is for Mark Needle as the next Carlton coach as he has experience at the AFL level.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
