Changes for Next Week

Recommended Posts

Thought JKH tried enough, about our player who tries to be creatve.

Agree that Watts needs a spell now, the fear has to be will he ever bounce back. Is it worth Watts having a sit and moving Howe back forward? He did alright when he was today. Consider keeping grimes when Jetta comes back.

McKenzie is shocking. When is Viney back?

out: JKH, Watts, McKenzie

in: Jetta, Dawes, Riley

I think Bail is probably a better option then Riley. Riley has shown nothing at AFL level and is basically like McKenzie.

Bail has shown he can play as small forward, kick a few goals and run through the middle. He also brings good aggression.

Bail needs to fill that Kent role so I'd pick him

Dawes and Jetta need to come back and I'd give Toumpas a chance.

Outs...Watts,JKH,Mckenzie and Michie.

Admittedly I spent the first half in the blazer bar watching the fight but I would like to see Watt's tackle count today before dropping him. I thought I saw him stick a couple. From reading all the training reports that is the area of his game they are really working on. If he is improving on that we have to keep him in. We know he uses it well when is and running.

How many pints did you have before making that assessment?

For the record, Watts had 3 tackles today.

For context, Michie and McKenzie had 0, Pedersen, Cross, Tyson, Hogan and Dunn had just 1, Salem, Vince and Garland and 2.

With McDonald, Howe, Jones and Grimes on 3, that puts Watts in our top half for tacklers.

There is plenty to dislike about Watts right now, but tackling at least isn't one of them. I'd be wondering why Michie, Cross, Tyson and Vince laid just 4 between them.

I have it on authority that Jetta has been asked to rest for more than 1 week.. 6 concussions suffered since Xmas has doctors saying a 6 week break might be better. Jetta though reportedly wants only 1 week off. It's a fine line.

What did Michie do wrong to be dropped? He provides hardness in the packs.

A bit early to tell with confidence before a verdict on Salem, but if he went off with concussion from the late attempted spoil in middle of ground by Taverner (I think), then you would have to assume he'll miss one.

There are a lot of players under the microscope this week but I suspect there'll just be 3 or 4 changes.

1) Salem out for Jetta.

2) Stretch (23rd man) in for McKenzie.

3) Dawes (if fit) in for the only under-performing tall forward that we have - Watts. If Dawes is not fit, then Spencer/Gawny come in to play for Watts.

4) Riley (24th man and best in reserves) maybe in for Michie or Newton. Newton may have a few more runs on board, meaning Viv will be the unlucky fourth.

JKH to get one last chance to shine, with Stretch the sub.

B: Jetta Dunn Garland

HB: Grimes T-Mac Howe

C: Lamumba Vince Cross

HF: Brayshaw Dawes Vanders

F: Garlett Hogan Tyson

Ru: Jamar Riley N.Jones

Int: Pedersen, JKH, Newton, Stretch (sub)

6 weeks?!?!?!

Put a helmet on him and get him out there.

(Obviously I'm joking and his health comes first!)

our highest disposal count was Cross with 21. so some perspective needs to happen.

At least Newton looks dangerous.

Which one of his 12 possessions at 66% efficiency in 83% game time. But of course McKenzie, with 9 in 42% game time and 78% disposal efficiency is definitely out. Don't let the facts get in the way of your bias.

Reality is we are embarrassed with options for those to drop. Newton was found wanting today and has been disappointing so far this season.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
