Not disappointed. Pedo is a far better match up against Freo than Dawes. He can do Dawes job forward and a better job in the ruck.

No he wasn't. He was getting constant work done on his calf at training the other day. So clearly it's for soreness. Dawes has been good so far this year.

FMD people have built up Pedo into some mythological forward beast when the reality was he was dropped last year, hasn't played this year, and is only getting a game because the better player has had to pull out sore.

there's not always a direct correlation between your opponent having a bad day and you having a good one

you still have to touch the pill occasionally

and besides, 2 goals a week for a small forward is plenty, I wouldn't call that a great lockdown job

i rate NJ but you shouldn't skate by on previous glories

Ummm as a defender, the correlation between your opponent having a bad day and you having a good one, is the exact definition of success.

Jetta broke even against Betts, no mean feat, and won every other battle this year.

At this moment imo our top 10 most important players are (in no particular order):

Hoges N Jones tmac Tyson dunny jetta viney Vince, jamar(as much as it pains me to say) and Salem. Closely followed by Kent, H and cross

It's all conjecture, of course, but jetta and viney are definitely super important this year.

What we forget is the mood at the club has changed, noone can expect to get selected and we certainly are growing in confidence. In that enviroment Grimes, Jordy and Cam are likely to be different. Frankly i think they could do well. Our biggest out it Jetta but salem will go to Ballantyne and do a good job.

He was in the hands of the physios a couple at times at training, still finished the session strongly, but obviously overnight it has gone bad again, not worth the risk

Structure is important and I rate Dawes second to Tmac in importance for structure on matchday . Hopefully we can remain organised and keep the pressure on without Clunker Dawes .

Dawes, Kent and Jetta all out from last weeks great win, Viney sidelined still.

Will be a miracle if we roll Freo

No chance, bringing in 3 guys who have not played in the seniors year to date. It is a step up from 2's to 1's. Freo is the best starting side in the comp, really tough ask for the 3 coming in.

Pretty sure Hogan is more important than Dawes for our structure. Throw in Jamar too. T-Mac still the most important player in our team though. Oh, also Nathan Jones is captain, so he's pretty important too.

Pedo was really good the first half of last year, since it is the first half of this year; i hope that he is good again.

Hopefully we can draw some confidence from the Dogs beating Sydney today - it is possible to beat the top 4 sides if you hit them hard and work all day.

Dawes out is another huge loss, we've lost three really important structural players despite them not all being high possession players. We're clearly worse off with Grimes, McKenzie and Pedersen in place of Dawes, Kent and Jetta, but so be it. At least the three coming in aren't in abysmal VFL form.

Our midfield is intact which is important against Fremantle - and if our defensive pressure is where it was last week, we will make them earn it.

I'm convinced Pedersen plays his best footy as a defender. He's pretty good and strong in the one-on-ones and has adequate skills going the other way. His 2 games vs GWS in 2013 and 2014 were really good as a defender, in ordinary losses.

I'd play Pedersen as a key defender tomorrow, allowing Garland to take Walters or Ballantyne and releasing Howe as a forward to get them off guard a little.
