Kent out for 10-12 (bumped thread)

Via Ben Guthrie's Twitter: "Dean Kent to have hamstring tendon surgery this week, which will rule him out for 10-12 weeks. Nev Jetta (concussion) will miss against Freo"

Such a shame. Was really starting to look at home in that defensive forward role. Will be missed greatly.

When he does a hammy he does a hammy good.

[censored] news. Really really [censored] news.

That's half a season ruined because he was the only player chasing 3 opponents.

Never should have even been in that situation.

He's been very important for us, and I hope however get the lucky break to replace him does a good job. He'll be sorely missed.

That sucks big time.

Though he was one of our best till he hurt himself.

That said, just had another aftershock here, so no longer upset about this.

Where are you?

FMD 10-12 weeks for a hammy that is absurd

It's really not - there are a lot of ways to "do a hammy" and it would seem Kent suffered one of the worst ways.

I'm really disappointed for the guy. He's been pretty unlucky in his attempts to string together a good run of footy. 10-12 sounds like forever.

10-12 sounds like forever.

In reality the season is almost a write-off.. these estimates are nearly always shorter than the reality and then there is a couple of weeks at Casey probably. Might get a few more games at the end. Bugger.

We showed after half time that we can play great footy without him, but this still sucks. His defensive pressure had been first rate this year.

Who does this open the door for? Toumpas is not really fast enough to play the role. Bail will probably be a mainstay now.

A full and a speedy recovery lad.

Was a standout in the first quarter and set the physical benchmark for the rest of the team.

I though we were looking a little slow and overawed at the start of the match - not Kent though.

He's a big loss, but this has to be an opportunity seized by Michie, Toumpas, or JKH to cement a spot in the 22 over the next 12 weeks.

Almost a whole season, tough to get fitness back up again during the season. He was looking like he was just about to pop and be a real asset week in week out.

If a hamstring tendon it must be reattached or sutured up strong

It attaches under the glute in to bone so its not as quick to heal as a muscle tear

damn that's bad news but it did look bad at the time but I was hoping for 6-8w. as we know there is no quick fix for hammys unfortunately, only time and very careful management. he has an explosive style of play so this will be a major consideration in injury management. cannot afford for it to happen again in the same spot. hammy's also worry me more than knees in terms of the inherent weakness of having a bad one and the liklihood of recurrence. would be a disaster to rush him back for any reason although with the demons careful injury management this is unlikely.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
