Really pleased with the consistency being shown at the selection table. Forges a strong group work ethic, shifts the responsibility onto the players to perform, and makes people work to earn their place and then keep it.

Odds are outrageous. Dees a very big chance. Some serious quality out of that Tigers team, and we handle them pretty well usually. Happy Deledio out.

We will win, I'm going and quite confident.

There's are bigger.

Think you'll find we have got them covered . And there is only one soft player in the following lot and he plays for Richmond (Grigg.. or is it Edwards?.. I get them mixed up).

Aarron Vandenberg 188 cm, 90 kg - Kamdyn Mcintosh 192 cm, 89 kg

Heritier Lumumba 188 cm, 91 kg - Dustin Martin 187, 90 kg

Bernie Vince 186cm, 87 kg - Trent Cotchin 185 cm, 85 kg

Angus Brayshaw 187 cm, 88 kg - Shaun Grigg 190 cm, 86 kg

Daniel Cross 187 cm, 87 kg - Brandon Ellis 181 cm, 84 kg

Viv Michie 185 cm, 85 kg - Shane Edwards 182 cm, 81 kg

Dom Tyson 186 cm, 81 kg - Taylor Hunt 184 cm, 78 kg

Ben Newton 183 cm, 84 kg - Anthony Miles 179 cm, 80 kg

Nathan Jones 180 cm, 86 kg - Matt Arnott 180 cm, 86 kg

Not getting my hopes up...it's hard not to, though.

I'll be filthy if we lose this, but if we do, I want it to go down to the wire.

I desperately want us to upset them tomorrow, not only because it would be a win, but because it would be glorious to get the chocolates after 3 years without a Friday night match. Especially after listening to Swans/Coll/Hawks fans whine all week about "bad fixturing"!

9 changes to the side that played Richmond last year.

Out. Pedersen, Riley, Bail, Terlich, Viney, Toumpas, Gawn, Matt Jones, Grimes

In. Lumumba, Newton, vandenBerg, Garlett, Kent, Hogan, Jetta, Brayshaw, Michie

A different side, a stronger side. And we actually beat them last time (despite 28 scoring shots to 21).

Is it just a coincidence or in the past have we always focused on frawley and not realise how good Tommy is now. I mean he is had a great 3 games and the media are now beginning to take notice. I know he has done his job in the past and we know he can run and his kicking needs some work but maybe he has taken that next step to be a great defender and feels he has to now Chip is no longer there.

Anyway im looking forward to his matchup on Riewoldt. I hope the rain stays away and we win.

I don't watch a huge amount of Richmond games but I'm pretty well across most AFL clubs with ins and outs - they've got quite a few named that I can't put a face to, a very different side to the one we played and beat last year. I can only imagine that they're trying to expose our lack of leg speed - I'll caveit that with saying I'm not sure the ones they've included are actually faster, definitely younger though.

We're paying $7 for 15.5 and over which is amazing value - had to grab it. Deledio generally plays well against us so happy to see him out and even better that Chaplin is in the stands. Go Dees!

What are those ins? surely Richmond isn't tanking!

Richmond game experience: 1494

Dees game experience: 1818

I'm a lot more confident about this game now...

That's a fascinating stat and one that gives me alot of confidence. When is the last time we played a top 8 team (from last year) and had more experience?

It helps that we played Frawley forward last year so that the only changes to our backline are the additions of Salem and The Prince. Playing Frawley as a forward last year was brilliant as it allowed us to use Frawley in place of Hogan while allowing the coaching staff to assess our backline and gaps to be filled.

It's amazing how stable our side has been so far. Michie is player #25 used, on all changes listed today only Sydney have used fewer (24), and GWS, Freo and Adelaide are equal (assuming the Crows don't pick Matt Crouch in their final side).

I can't remember an MFC side so settled. This is a very good sign in my opinion. Obviously few injuries comes down to luck, but only two players have been omitted so far and one of those returned the next week.

You know Michie has been forced to bust a gut to get in. Best of luck to him.

There is so much at stake in this game. Conventional wisdom says it's our last chance at a win for a month. Being in the primest of prime time means a good performance gives us the most positive exposure we're going to get all year. It also leads into some home games, finally, to help us sell memberships.

They've got a few outs, we're looking alright on paper - I'm not confident (MFCSS) but I do like our chances. I really hope we can get the job done.

The Toigs number of changes? Drummond, McIntosh, Hunt ... Maric injured last year?

You & I are on a similar page - after 45 years of continuous membership, you think I'd be ready to leave kindergarten, but BBO won't let me.

GO!!! Michie……I don't know who he is, but he must be better than Jon Pertwee!

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
