GAME DAY, ROUND 3, 2015

Good question. If it's the round one team I reckon we'll lose by 4 goals (or if Adelaide are well off their game we might get closer)

If the round two team turn up. Well... 80 point + thrashing

Another Saturday morning and I am optomistic as always. I am looking forward to that crucial moment, and we all know the scenario. Melbourne gets away to a good competitive start and them slowly but surely the opposition puts us to the test. I will be watching more closely than ever who rises to the challenge and who has been beaten to submission one too many times. Go Dees.

Adelaide are going alright but they are hardly unbeatable. Cut their cheap kicks where they set up play from the back half, tag smith with Kent if he plays, try to cut Sloane out around stoppages (in my opinion more damaging than paddy) and pressure the ball carrier through the midfield so tex doesn't get it lace out. I like our chances more at adelaide oval since it's not as wide, we get cut up from teams in the corridor because we defend too wide. This enables us to narrow our zone slightly. If nev and Tommy can keep Betts and walker quiet, and paddy doesn't go bonkers, we could be a sniff. Providing the team answers to last week's capitulation- a trait we haven't seen for years now.

There's a difference between optimistic and stupid... We are no chance, back to the old days where you go into a game knowing we are no chance of winning, and the best thing to hope is we are in the game at qrt time and take that as a win

I usually defer to Garry Lyon when I do my football tips.

In Round 1, he picked the Suns to win. He got it wrong.

In Round 2, he picked the Dees to win. He got it wrong.

In Round 3, he picked the Crows to win. I am hoping for a hat trick from him.

Call me stupid as I am really looking forward to this game. It will be a good indication of where we are at and I am expecting a tough 4 quarter game. I am expecting to lose however it will be closer than many think. Hogan, Watts and Vanders to have standout games.

Last year we got smashed by GWS. The next week we lost to Port by 3 points. Is it stupid to think the same thing will happen?

Not wasting another beautiful Perth 27c and sunny day watching the game. I'll record it and will watch it later at night, that way I don't feel so bad having a bottle red or two drowning the pain.

Who will be at the game?

definitely a two bottle match methinks. Will Jones play? Possibly 3.

I also have a hunch that it will be closer than what people think, however, ignoring the experts, I think that we will bring home the bacon in a repeat of last year.

Actually was Geelong who flogged us the week prior so that gives your point more credit... But Port were in a form slump then and adelaide are red hot atm.. Only chance we have is adelaide turning up complacent

I was feeling more than slightly morbid about our chances until I read this thread, but the optimism shining through in some of the posts has lifted my spirits to some extent. What a wonderful place this is ...........sometimes!

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
