  1. We remain MFC, not a club who resorts to borderline tactics to win games. shocking news that we lost a player with great ability, but great news for Angus future health. Hopefully now he can fully recover and go on to another chapter in life. I for one would have hated to see he playing well but always being one knock away from serious health concerns. well done Angus, premiership player, serious fan favourite, players player and a player who lived up to his early draft pick placing.
  2. Crowd support only matched in our first final of 87. What a night. Will never forget the combined spirit of the crowd and our fab players ladt night
  3. I too remember Maxie from his Melbourne days. Always wanted to and thought one day I would meet him later in life as I knew his sister Lexie. She too had the same zest for life as Maxie. A sad loss. Thanks for the memories
  4. So you agree with my conclusion. He's a keep unless we get a good trade deal. I would call a 3rd round pick a good deal.
  5. Well, I say good on him for wanting to prove whoever hes got a gripe with wrong. Think he is in a similar position to Brian Lake at the Bulldogs. He is a keep for mine unless he is part of a good deal.
  6. I wonder if anyone else saw the intense and worried look on Chris Dawes face in the rooms at half time. I would give a penny for his thoughts.
  7. Dunn Garland no leadership when heat on, Grimes is not a footballer, Trenners cooked.
  8. The Bulldogs give me great confidence in Melbourne direction. Get everyone on board and work on development and improvement in each and every player on the list. I also saw a bit of what the Bulldogs do in Melbournes use of quick handballs. The difference being the Bulldogs always try and put it out in front of the player to the position where they should be rather than to a stationary flat footed target.
  9. Scully looked like he was not prepared to take the game on. Quick hands and set up kicks but in the end failed to deliver the knock out blow. Steve J let them down last week. Heath Shaw bad for team morale down back as evidenced in second quarter abusing teammates.
  10. Del Santo has ability to hit a target by foot or put the ball in the required spot by hand. Would be a good get. By comparison Thompson repeatedly fumbled the ball
  11. Well worth keeping in mind that we beat GWS early in the year.
  12. Yes I think the damage done to the club is close to irrepairable. Lets say for a minute Fremantle or Hawthorn or Port Adelaide or Syney had half their players banned effective immediately. I would still back any of them and lots of others to be ahead of Melbourne over a three to four year period. They are clubs with culture, success, facilities and strong member support. We have just fallen through the cracks.
  13. I will never understand us not drafting Wines. Once in a generation an opportunity comes around to get a hard at it double act., and mates thrown i to the bargain. We knew that would be the case if we drafted both Wines and Viney. Yes some rated Toumpas higher but it was always about a double act and the dynamics that brings to a team, particularly a midfield. So individually, yes Toumpas over Wines made sense on paper. But Viney plus Wines v Viney plus Toumpas was a no brainer.
  14. I agree with you stuie, Fitzy has an X factor and so much upside, similar to Stef Martin in many ways.
  15. I would love be observe a post match review and see if what is being picked up by the coaches and relayed to the players are the same repetive weaknesses and issues we constantly talk about on forums like these. And stemming from the reviews what happens on an individual basis. Does Dom Tyson get some individual coaching on his kicking style or a reanactment of when he should have passed to Jamar. Similarly does Garlett get shown on the ground in a simulated environment that he only had to stop or do a side step to get around his opponent to be clear to kick that goal. Finally I hoped and hoped Watts had the fitness and confidence to say to Roos...i want Fyfe this week.
  16. Very little we do from now this season is going to make the side significantly better, yes Dawes, come back in and Viney when fit and so it goes. We need to gut run for longer and improve the skills of key players. I desperately want Fitzpatrick in and will argue he is as good as the tall young kid whos name was not worth remebering or looking up in Freos forward line. I fear another Stefan Martin situation unless we get games into him. Ask yourself would you rather play on Fitzpatrick or Watts.
  17. MFC is all the better for offloading, Moloney, Sylvia, Frawley, Clark etc. Watts will not be missed for his game day efforts.
  18. Im flying blind on this but I am optomistic whoever comes in will play their role exactly ad Roos and Co ask of them. Maybe not the talent of those they replace but full effort will do me for now.
  19. Its a great shame for the injured boys but what a lesson for the boys at Casey that if you keep working hard opportunities present themselves. Lets see who continues to put their hand up this weekend.
  20. Thanks Paul Roos for giving over the culture of the Club to the players. Dare to Dream boys. Imagine being part of the Melbourne team that brings home the flag after more than 50 years.
  21. Billy Stretch is a smooth mover with a good footy brain and skills to find his man and set up play. Happy to leave it to Toosy as to when he gets his opportunity. Fitzpatrick likewise in his new role.i would love to think the club has given Fitzpatrick a realistic timeline to learn the defenders role and see this club make something out of a player who was treading water.
  22. I was bitterly disappointed to hear Watts talking a few weeks ago saying how happy he is to have Hogan and Dawes in the side to take the key posts as he is not big enough for the role......can someone get him a full length mirror.
  23. The Bentleigh Club is a good place to watch the game. The crowds have swelled from as low as half a dozen in recent years to 40 to 50 as previously said. Unfortunately the MFC as always misses a great opportunity to build a supporter base. Come on now, what about some tea, coffee, and biscuits maybe so e party pies and heaven forbid a few ex players or officials come down and represent the Club.
