Five feet two with a bad leg, recruiting as normal.

I'd do that deal. Probably the closest we will get to being fair for both clubs.

Just wait for the usual deals suggest on here that include any of Fitzy/Terlich/Riley/Bail etc as if they have some sort trade value. Those guys are worth next to nothing and won't be the decider in a deal for someone like Prestia.

yeah the old 'swap ya a gun for a pack of duds' suggestion, happens every year

Howe and pick 4 for Prestia and pick 37 would be a fair swap IMO.

If we have pick 4 we are rumoured to be very interested in Darcy Parish. He is suggested to be a similar player to Prestia but bigger. Howe was rumoured to have attracted pick 7 last year. I would rather try and do a deal with that value plus maybe adding another player, than giving away our first pick. Also Prestia has had a few injuries already. What about Howe and Dawes for Prestia, especially if Dixon leaves.

Would Prestia be GCSs best mid apart from GAJ? Our first pick might not be enough

3rd in their BnF last year (GAJ was 4th) - 13 brownlow votes

2nd the year before to GAJ - 9 brownlow votes

10th in 2012, which was his second year

Essentially you hope to get a player of Prestia's quality at pick 4. He's 22 y/o so pretty much the perfect age, early development done and no guesswork with what he might become.

Every draft year, some of the touted gun mids turn out good some don't. I think he's worth more than pick 4.

As for Howe, the pick 6 that was touted for him last year was overs at the time and his patchy form this year has diminished his value. I would certainly test the waters with GWS before packaging him up in a Prestia trade but I'd have no problems if we have to throw him in to get Prestia.

Some questions have started to emerge over Paul Roos' tactics and general performance, but one thing you can't question is how good he is in October. I expect him to improve our list massively.

Hope so, has done well so far.

More importantly, he is a leader.

Vice Captain. That makes him more valuable than Parish.

Imagine Prestia, Petracca and Trengove in the side for round 1 next year..

With Jones, Vince, Tyson, Viney and Brayshaw... starting to look like an OK midfield

As a Dees/Suns member,i've see most of Dion's games and i'd be happy to get him but he's doesn't have pace and isn't a linebreaker,I thought he would have come on a lot more than he did last last year as Dyson Heppell did,who went at pick 8 and Dion at pick 9,we cleaned up and took Lucas Cook at pick 12.

I'd throw absolutely everything at Jaegar O' Meara but I reckon he'll be at the Pies next year,While he's been out injured all year,Eddie has him doing work experience at Fox Footy and Purple said on the Footy Show a couple of weeks ago,he's looking at property in Melbourne,GWS had to give him up in the mini draft but he's a better mid than anyone they have.

We could outbid the Pies,$4Million/5 year deal might get it done.

Hey are you suggesting Prestia isn't an A grader?

You can get lynched for that around here!

I think Prestia is an A-Grader. If not, he isn't far off. He is exactly the type of guy we need.

Not sure what he'd cost, but there are no guarantees our early pick would turn out to be a star. Package it up with a player.

Would love to get Prestia. Would love to get OMeara even more.

IMO OMeara has a lot more upside than Prestia.

In the tradition of Demonland big calls, O'Meara could be the premier midfielder in 2 - 3 years if he got his body right....and didn't play for us.

I have it on good authority that the injuries to both Prestia and O'Meara are pretty bad. In the case of the former, I was informed that any club that enquires after him needs to take a long hard look at his MRI scans. In the case of the Jaeger Bomb the verdict is even more problematic. My information is that unless he can get through a full season with Gold Coast before chasing after him. Prognosis not bright for either party.

Pray tell, what is the source of this good authority WJ?

I have a good source also, albeit only with Prestia. Injury is tough, not career-ending, but in terms of investing enough to attract him to move, there is reason enough to be excessively cautious about the condition.

As you would be with any young star with a major injury.

Merely precautionary. Cautious more so than you would be with a healthy player.

I agree jack. I'd like Prestia, but hes no real weapon breaking the lines. he's an in under with a lot of go in him. & i think nice vision inside. but he is a must get. we need all the hard workers we can muster & at the end of 2016 when I think Crossy will be done, we will have Prestia to take that mantle.

Omeara is the one we really lack with all class. he is one of the weapons we sorely need for his pace & skills.

... the Suns need mature aged leaders, to help steer their kids onto the straight & narrow.

If that rumour is true and both are lost to the game it would be a travesty. The game needs more highly skilled players, not less.

Yeah especially Jaeger who looked to be the next Judd/Ablett. Hes a bloody incredible player.

First time I'd heard that about both players, but the recent activity of O'Meara in Melbourne certainly makes a lot more sense with that information.

Id heard o'meara was no certainty to make it back, but dion as far as I've been told is aiming to be back for pre season next year

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
