Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

As much as I admire Angus' dedication and commitment in running 100 100's I'm not sure why he is singled out as being someone special when I would expect the whole list not in rehab to be putting in the same work. What I am impressed with now is that it appears that we have players that are far more focused on being the best that they can possibly be. This is a big change from the Bailey years. I give a small thanks to Mark Neeld in starting to change that mind shift.

He is being singled out because as far as we know, he's the only one that spent his Christmas day running sprints. Expecting that from the whole list is ridiculous, They are professional football players, not robots.

All players would have a Christmas program, for an athlete at elite level training is required you do it no matter what the day is. I'm sure is other MFC players had to do 100 x 100m sprints on the 25/12 they would have done this. Funny how training is back to this, when you think about today's game it is basically what it is, repeat high speed running over 100-150m

Each player has a program THEY HAVE TO FOLLOW, over the break, so he would not be alone

Correct. I have a cousin who is on an AFL list (not the dees) and he was training Christmas day which he chose to do so he could have a day off and a few beers at the boxing day test.

You contradict yourself twice. I would expect the whole group to be doing this level of training over the Christmas break but would not have expected the new draftees to be involved to that extent. As for not being robots.......that's exactly what professional footballers are. They are told what to do and they do it.

It's good to see we've drafted someone who has a desire to be the best he can be. At the very least we know we've got a kid who will give his all and not cruise through his football career like say another pick 3 in Sylvia.

Glad to have Angus at the club!

×2 I have also two cousins running around aswell who get a xmas program they must complete. One of them is currently in rehab so his program is different to the others.

I am not sure what my other ones program is as he is currently overseas spending xmas with all our other relatives but.

It's a good sign that the young fella has done some additional running on Christmas Day - but I think more the point, is that he did 100 x 100.

Not sure if you've ever tried it - but that is one heck of a session for an 18 year old on Christmas Day.

Expecting the whole list to do that is just ridiculous. There probably isn't another player in the AFL that did 100 x 100m sprints on Xmas day.

How does 100 x 100 work? How long do you rest between sprints?

Depends GTG, when I had to do them it was "jog" back and go again but you did them in a group so you were doing them as quick as the last bloke in the group getting back to the start line. Not a lot of science, a lot of testing of the mental side.

so if you were jogging back to the other end, that means it would be 20km all up

half sprinted, half jogged

how long is that going to take, taking into account ever increasing breaks?

They are certainly sprints - they are usually timed so you need to keep at a certain rate as you go along.

Usually you would do them in blocks of 5, whilst jogging slowly back to the start. So you don't actually stop moving until you've run 1km (50% of which is sprinted). Then you get around 2 minutes to stop and recouperate before doing another block of 5.

It's a very tough running session for any player - particularly fast players who have high sprint speeds and lower endurance.

Those of us who are old enough can remember a great Athlete who's training consisted of running 100 x 100 metres and the breaking the world record for the 800 metres in Mexico City in 1968 his coach believed that you get fitter by using this training method. The coach was successful with other athletes using this method but it does not work with everyone. This form of mental and physical punishment is great provided you have the talent to be the best.

10 out of 10 for effort but take away 6 points for making it public, unnecessary imo and undoes his good work, end result 4 out of 10

This is a stupid post

Im sure if Roosy saw this he would be be tearing his hair .at Angus for putting it out public.

Should suspend for round 1 I reckon.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
