The Devil Inside

I have no explanation as to why but I just really want Toumpas to make it. ( i want everyone to make it but this kid especially)

Maybe because he was a no.4 draft pick and we are all hoping and preying we haven't stuffed another top pick up.

Otherwise because he looks like a great kid with the greatest smile and warm personality that endears him to everyone.

Maybe because we desperately need a player who can play like he did as a junior.

Any or all of the above.

I'll go with this one. If he can step up into AFL like he did in the SANFL when still a junior then he will be a winner.

Maybe to make the Wines >>>>> Toumpas crowd eat a few words - stick it up them would be too crude an expression so I will not use it.

nah..I dont buy into this whole - "if we hadn't drafted X we could have had Y".

He just seems like a really determined with a drive to succeed and I just loved the way he interviewed after he was drafted.

Still unemployed, so was there again

Another top session, only one missing today was Terlich

Rehab group as such, Riley, Spencer, Kent, McKenzie, Trengove, Vandenberg, Stretch, Watts and Harmes

Bernie Vince and Howe did bits of rehab but also the drills

Spoke to Jack Trengove, next scan this week, jealous of the guys being able to train, but head in a good place, doing lots of work in the gym, did handball drills using his trike, , pic will be on my Twitter Demonpk, along with some others

Chris Salem along with being devastated by Arsenal's loss at the weekend, tweaked his quad a bit at training but it is fine

Asked Angus Brayshaw how he is going, he is feeling it, goes to bed no later than 8pm, already learning so much

Spoke to PJ to get definitive answer on lack of advertising around the ground, it is not allowed in the lease, also tried for some of the Punt Rd edge but Vic Roads vetoed, also congratulated him on the profit for the year, his answer paraphrased "we have to get the supporters trust again"

Big Pencil Spencer has a good mate diagnosed with Leukemia back in Nth Qld, so used his 'fame' and shaved his head to raise money for him, he raised $8000, the human face of footy

Highlight in the full field drills today, Lumumba, Garlett, Tyson, Toumpas and N Jones

For all the optimists, Jimmy Toumpas again killed them in the running drills, streeted his group by 30 metres, drill was start in goal square, run around to halfway, run across the field and back to goal square and then down to other end

Any questions feel free.

Thanks for this.

A few of the lads over at Big Footy were wondering if there's anything wrong with Garland at the moment as he's consistently at the back of running groups by all reports?

Is it mainly due to coming off a low base or is something else troubling him?

Watts has been in rehab for a while too. Anything significant there?

If I may speak on behalf of that crowd, we will gladly eat as much as possible.

Yes he is further back in the running drills but he is competing in all the drills. I don't think he has done that for a number of pre-seasons. He is getting fitter and fitter like they all are. He's just not a standout. The Russian, Dunny, Garlett and a few others are back there too.

Hnmm sounds interesting, was it just a free flowing running activity or did he have an opponent to contend with!??

Speed and carry off the HBF is crucial

TMac, Jnr Mac and Howe all run and carry as does HL. What's Frost like with this?

Similarly long penetrating kicks are crucial to beat the flood back and transition it quickly. Howe is an ok kick and so is Jnr Mac apparently. Not sure on others. I can see the Toump playing off hb to help with this

What's Harmes's kicking like?

Frost can run mark & kick, his best weapon is his long hard kicking. He nails targets very well

they'd be whole 'club' of such players

I really dot care who they are....I just want them all to be the player the club envisioned when drafting. Even a 50% strike rate would do for starters.

There was about 15 in each group.

My guess was that the total distance of each run was about 500m.

The first time they did it they had about a 30 sec rest. Then did it again. They then went and did more drills and assembled to do it all over again. It doesn't matter whether he had real opposition. He was out to beat himself.

He smashed them.

In the time I was there they did this about 3 times ( about 3000m total) a great effort.

I understand its early but Garland's reports are not inspiring for a player who had a very, very mediocre season

No one (in theory) is an automatic selection anymore. About bloody time. T Mac, Frost and Dunn can be the three talls.

Fantastic info. But hope you get a job soon...after pre-season.

It's training in early Dec. Relax for once

Yes. I feel like we have won the premiership already! Hope is a wonderful thing at this time of year

Then you want him to be an A grader, fair enough.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

The Demons almost blew a six goal lead and ultimately hung on to win by three points over the North Melbourne Kangaroos at the MCG and have temporarily jumped back into the Top 8.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
