WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCHELL WHITE

The Red Fox

Recommended Posts

No anger, just becoming tired of some posters using every opportunity to pump up the tyres of Jimmy Toumpas, therefore totally sabotaging a thread about a new Draftee!

Ok I'll play and say again if people want to project the virtues of a player who has been on our list for two seasons and done sweet fanny adams, they then can put up with my own interpretation of continuing to doubt, No make that have severe doubt that the player mentioned is better than a Rank Rookie pick as selected.

There you go! Take it or leave it!

So back to Mitchell White and from his highlights package I have ascertained the following, forget my sources, this is my own appraisal!

    • Has a Rapier left foot
    • Has a low centre of gravity in core which means he won't be easily brushed aside
    • Can kick a goal and on his non preferred foot
    • Reads the play very well
    • Plays taller than his height suggests and takes well judged marks
    • Not frightened wins his own ball and finds space through traffic
    • Seems to have that sixth sense about player movement around him, therefore buying time for excellent disposal
    • That will do for now and I further predict that when Trengove is placed on the LTI list for this season this bloke will become a senior player.

So in summation, if posters want to dish it up mess up a thread with frivolous comprimises concerning other players then expect me to return fire!

No anger just business!

Well done Mitchell White I hope you become a household name among the MFC Faithful!

Wow......You can tell all that from a "Highlights tape"?? Edited by Bossdog

So instead of having a go at me then vent your frustration at those who first mentioned Jimmy Toumpas in this thread. Toumpas was not mentioned at all by me in this thread until those who obviously have hidden agendas decided to ingratiate him into this conversation!

So whilst I merely added weight to the Mitchell White thread others decided to put Jimmy Toumpas into the equation! Probably to wind me up!

Yeah well wind away and I will stay true to my convictions.

Don't like it don't read it! Oh and one other thing, I couldn't give a stuff If posters start a thorough and detailed appraisal of the validity, or otherwise of whether I am "Improving" in quality of posts or not, Likewise whether the mail I get comes to fruition or not.

I post what I hear at my discretion and after all, whether wrong or right, does anyone really know THE FACTS until things play out?

Nar.Not unless Paul Roos himself, Chris Connolly, Peter Jackson, any of the players, Mr Magoo, or Crocodile Dundee posts under an avatar of secrecy!

So BACK TO THE THREAD!

Mitchell White will hopefully become a very good player for MFC

END OF RANT!

A bit difficult to know whether I like something until I've read it.

Yeah I know hard to believe for some! And as for you Dazzle man it aint all that hard!

With your insight you could do it as well!

The skill is somewhat overated! I feel!

I still think Toumpas will be better....

(Ducking for cover)

and wouldn't it be just great if they both had great careers at MFC.

Back on Mitchell white, huge value in this pick, kid would have been in far more serious draft calculations if not for injuries, someone I see as a future AFL player for sure

Michael hibberd is a good comparison

They're all huge value at this stage of the year 'Sir Paul'.

Was Hibberd recruited before or after "the great experiment"?

Can any of the regular attendees of the training sessions let us know how Mitch is fitting in and more particularly what his kicking is like.

I'm still a bit confused as to how he ended up effectively pick 100. Best and fairest winner in a team one game and percentage off 3rd spot on the TAC ladder. Versatile size at 188cm/88kg and reportedly a booming left foot. He played 16 TAC games averaging 19 disposals and 5 marks. Apparently has a great attitude

So what is the knock on him. Can't hit targets? Too slow? Looks a bit like Simon Godfrey?

I've seen a couple of sessions of him but not extensive periods. He has a bit of a shuffling run, doesn't strike me as a speedy type. Looks like his body needs work as well but so do most of the 80 or so picked ahead of him. Kicking seems legit though. Low, hard and accurate left foot.

I'd say speed, fitness and injury concerns would be one knock on him. Probably the rest needs more vision and games to work out. Does he read the play? Does he run to link up well? Does he consistently make good decisions. It's hard to tell that from training (where most of that is scripted) and 2 minutes of highlights.

I think the big issue is durability. Reports on him all mentioned his injury interrupted season causing him to drop. His highlights look very good in terms of courage, intercept marking and kicking. From what I've been able to find he is behind a lot of his fellow draftees in the fitness stakes, again largely due to injury, and there is a big question of whether his body will hold up to AFL. If Misson can work his magic and get his body sorted he'll be a great pickup.

Thought he did a great job last night. Looks a bit slow, but only got caught once. Some great hands at time. Spoiled really well at times when he ran back to defend and has a neat kick. Really pleased for him.

Just watched his post match interview with Robbo and its quite obvious he's come a long since his first ever interview with Burgs when he was a nervous wreck.

Will be a beauty this kid.

Did he display a tendency to kick backwards or sideways a tad too often, or was my TV on an angle?

On reflection, he may have been centering the ball.

Can he be our back pocket Brent Guerra?

Exactly the type of player we need playing weekly.

He impacts every contest he is at and refuses to be beaten.

Spoils really aggressively and plays with a lot of intensity.

Plays taller like Wagner and possesses great skills also.

I can't see how Garland is going to crack back in unless injury strikes or he completely changes the way he plays.

I'd put some of that down to the interviewer. Robbo's post match interviews are infinitely better than Burgo's. Better questions and the players open up a lot more.

Really good interview - like Robbo's style and Mitch seems like a quality kid.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
