He didnt play a lot of games, but when he got a chance, Zak Jones was impressive and exceeded expectations.

He looks like he'll be quite a good player like his brother, although he'll be fighting for spots with many other very highly rated kids at the swans.

Think Zac will also be competing with our highly rated kids if he makes the transfer. Our list is pretty complete now me thinks.

No. Our list is far from complete. Another key forward. A good ruck to replace Jamar, maybe 2 if Gawn or Spencil do another knee. Another 4 very good mids to replace McKenzie, Bail, M Jones and Cross (prob retire end 2015), possibly Hunt as well. We lack a midfield depth of 12 quality players.

IMO Zac Jones would be a great addition, at the right price of course.

Dawes had this gig in the bag until he lost the plot in the north game

As in captain or leadership group?

I seriously hope its not captain because this year he just struggled to impact games this year through actions. He had the good occasional game against Adelaide and Richmond but he was pretty poor this year. Very inconsistent.

While he provides voice and direction its still not enough.

Lynden Dunn would be my smokey tip for Vice Captain. At least he backs up his voice with with actions aswell.

Agree with you on this, if it were for his ability to communicate in the media he would be a walk up but his on ground performances are not strong enough to be captain.

The VC, there is no obvious starter for that one. Maybe Dunn perhaps Garland, a bit too early for McDonald, Viney or Tyson. I would probably go with Cross or Vince myself and wouldn't rule the big 'H' out either.

We have some very strong leaders coming through but they still need time to develop their games, having someone like Cross take the role for a year might just give them that extra bit of time needed. Poor recruiting has left us with very few home grown senior players with only Jones the standout as Captain.

It's apparently just a business now. Loyalty means nothing anymore.

At least, that's what I hear from some here.

A simple "I was wrong" will make amends

Oh yea of little faith

He's going to the highest bidder. Possibly GWS. Or North Melbourne.

It is just a business. And we won this time. To misquote Jack Ruby:"The world will never know how close Nathan came to not signing".

And san Diego has something to do with a whales [censored]

You seem to be embarrassing yourself here.

Read the rest of the loop - and my other posts on this issue generally.

In short, you seem to be picking an argument with the wrong poster here. Big time.

Simple - there's a lot of cliched carp stated on these threads.

Jones will remain a Demon. For life.

Why? Because he wants to. And the club wants him to.

He's loyal and committed to the club and he knows that, as a leader, he can influence the club's transformation and its future success.

And he wants to be a part of that.

There's more to footy for some players than simply the $$$. Some of you seem not to get that.

I typed North Melbourne because it seemed the most ludicrous club to suggest.

I think he will remain a Demon.

Never in doubt. This is what a club leader looks like.

Bloody stoked.

Loyalty is not dead to certain players. Never was.

I'll raise you a whammy. Double whammy.

Read the above Dinosaur.

Cross with only a season or two remaining in his career would be silly (as was the Trengove/Grimes call). On the other hand Tyson would be an inspired call [as our other stand-out player) as would H joining the leadership team. Down the track we will probably see Viney emulating his father and hopefully one of Brayshaw/Petracca. The players who lead by example are the call!

I'm probably Tyson's biggest fan on this forum but I think he is still needs a year or two more under his belt before he takes a senior leadership position, that's why I wouldn't count out someone like Cross as an interim measure.

I see our future leaders as Tyson, Viney and McDonald but would like to see them given time to develop first and not thrown to the wolves like Trengove and Grimes. It would be good for Tommy Mc to step up to the leadership group this coming season.

Please for the love of god don't give tyson the captaincy. Just let him develop into a genuine superstar.

Nathan Jones, Chris dawes and lynden dunn. 2015 co captains

Ruled out from captain.

I think it's a certainty that he'll be in the leadership group.

One incident like that shouldn't rule a player out from being a captain.

I reckon it should.

Not sure if you were at the game, but Dawes carried on like a bush league player that night.

Getting reported is one thing, but giving away 2 or 3 cheap shots (relayed free kicks and 50 mtr penalties) after getting reported is just unacceptable.

Roos had to drag him off the ground and would've lost trust in him. Plus he's compromised our round 1 side next year.

THREE co-captains?

Ffs, Jones is the captain. The entire league recognises him as such. He is the prominent leader and embodiment of the club.

Let him take the role on himself. Enough co-captains.

He is the standout, no doubt about that 'P-man'. I'm with you, Jones is the Captain....

Brett Kirk was the obvious leader at the swans P-man doesn't mean there weren't co captains

Roosy clearly likes the idea

He might like the idea but I doubt he'd do it regardless of personnel.

There are no other clear and obvious candidates and if they are playing second fiddle anyway just make them vice.

Jones has earned the right to be sole captain.
