WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST

Gipsy Danger

Recommended Posts

I love his speed and how he loves to go for a run and take bounces

Between him, T Mac and Lumumba we should have some real drive and flare off half back now

Yeah great T Mac can't kick, Frost can't get the ball, Lumumba's gonna have to do it all by himself.

Frost can't get the ball,

Averaged more possessions than All Australian full back Daniel Talia

Frost is not a midfielder, hes a key defender just so you know

I don't think Talia gives real drive and flair off half back either.

Maybe he didn't play much towards the end of the season because he told the club he wanted out and unlike Melbourne, GWS don't play players who want to defect.

Yes, it is odd to see someone play for three straight months and then just one more game at the death of the season...

It might have been around the time we got agreement and around the time the club couldn't give a fig about Frawley any more.

He missed 5 out of the last 7.

I'd like to know if it was form or injury that left him out of the side as well.

He doesn't get much of the ball only getting over 15 disposals once this year.

Honestly do we really need him?

Dunn replaced Frawley down back only lowering his colours to Brown and McDonald played full back as well only lowering his colours to Roughhead.

We now have 4 key defenders down back and 1 key forward up forward going into RND1, not a really balanced side if you ask me.

Maybe they will use either Dunn or Garland up forward. Looking forward to a massive 10 to 15 goal season from one of them.

Pick 23 is way over his value, should of used pick 23 to grab a midfielder.

4 key defenders vs 1 key forward for Rd 1?

So Dawes is out for a week so we should recruit a tall forward? Can we put him on a week long contract?

And this helps Dunn and Garland. They will be able to play on smaller opponents.

Hogan, Pedersen, and/or Gawn/Jamar should be able to make do for a week.

Dawes still will only leave us with 2 key forwards of course we need another tall forward.

Again we won't be able to kick enough goals, playing players like Pederson will keep us on the bottom.

Where's our backline drive going to come from besides Lumumba? He will need help in that area and it won't be coming from our 4 key talls.

Frosty Demon is happy!

Also have never seen so much love for Frosty

played round 16, 19 and 22. Hardly sent into the wilderness. Also gws renowned for turning over team from week to week for no good reason. Sorry didn't mean to link this comment to your post. Edited by demonoid

Perhaps Frost releases Dunn to do that more?

Frost and Mcdonald play the talls and negate.

All of Dunn, Lumumba and (hopefully) an in-form Garland can rebound well and all are capable of looking after a third tall, while Jetta takes the small.

It's quite a tall and fairly versatile defence.

Maybe, I don't really trust Dunn to do it. He could be the answer who knows, we'll just have to wait and see.

Howe and Fitzy as well.

Now we have Jeffy to crumb all Dawes dropped marks too.

And if we get too far ahead and want to even it up a bit we have Terlich and Grimes who can give it back to the opposition.

I have a mate who is a big GWS fan. Earlier in the year we were talking about Frawley possibly leaving and I suggested that he'd be a good fit for GWS, he said no way, they don't need Frawley because they have this kid called Frost who'll be better. Of course I thought he was raving but then I had a closer look at the kid and was impressed. Now my mate is [censored] (although happy with their trading).

I'm pretty freakin happy about the trade

I think it's safe to say Howe will play forward with Frost & Lamumba coming in?

I think theres curry in this. I have a suspicion 14 was used to develop Howe's game. The likes of Dawes , Hogan, Howe , Kent Garlett hovering in and amongst the fwd 50 might prove interesting

I used to think Demonland was a footy forum but now I realize it's more a comedy forum where footy is occasionally discussed - certainly it's a secondary consideration.

Some time ago I started to read the Potential Trades Tread and couldn't help but to laugh (I couldn't face the Danger thread). Then when I thought people were getting a grip in that thread a bloke comes along and starts asking riddles. Pretty funny and everyone seems to enjoy it - so many users on at one time. When that riddle isn't solved a Riddler comes along and asks another and CIP chips in with another but the joke is wearing thin and while others try to copy they can't match the originality of the first. Sadly the riddle is never solved. As it happens this didn't turn out to be the most important time for the MFC since 2000 and as far as I'm aware the riddle has never been explained (perhaps the answer is somewhere deep in the Danger thread but I'm all laughed out at the moment). But the riddler is still much admired and defended by many who so like to be involved in the jokes even if they are the butt.

So then this morning I start reading this thread thinking that the comedy is running a bit thin. I'm shocked. I reckon if I looked closely I could see blood on my screen. Screams, abuse, distress and anger pour out. Then a bloke gets up and says "hey, this mightn't have been so bad after all". He's told he's a fool but a few clear thinkers follow. A crack in the dam of hostility appears. Then the MFC play the cruelest joke of all. They put Sam Frosts highlight package up and a couple of photo's. It's about 3 minutes long and surprise surprise shows Slammin Sam doing ok (I've often wondered what the complementary package of "Sam's greatest mistakes" would look like and wonder if GWS will put that up).

Then there is a tremor, the dam starts to look seriously shaky and water is flowing faster now.

All of a sudden the crack becomes a gash the water flows faster and faster, the clouds clear and all is good with the world. What was the inept sacrifice of pick 23 now becomes a master stroke of professional list management. From being screwed we've identified our man, courted him with professionalism and been decisive in our actions. Rather than buckling in the wake of Saints bluff we've acted decisively and done what it takes. We've backed ourselves in. Well done MFC!! This kid has gone from not being worth anything but a very late round pick (after all an aging second string ruckman from the same club was traded for a much later pick) to someone who will be better than an All Australian key position backman sort by most of the top clubs and who's new contract was deemed to be worth the top level compensation.

What a win! Frost > All Australian dud.

Sam welcome to the madhouse that is the MFC. You'll have a lovely honeymoon until your first game. Even then you'll be cut a little slack but in time, like poor old Tommy McDonald, you'll be vilified and posters in threads will start questioning your credentials and condemning you to the dustbin of failed MFC trades and draft picks.

But just remember, underneath it all there will be Saty continuing to support you and the silent minority appreciating your efforts and understanding that you are a 21 year old key position defender playing on the oppositions best forwards and learning your trade. Good luck mate.

Oh, and if you want a laugh just read this thread!!

I'd love to see him develop further of half back to be that 3rd man up who marks rather than punches that can release HL and others to break from defence.

I think you've just summed it up perfectly. A very, very good post.

It isn't always the fault of the full back in those instances

It isn't the fault of backmen in most instances.

Key is pressure on the ball carriers coming into our back 50 - if you let the opposition waltz into their forward half your backmen will get cut up most of the time.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
