I think we've asked for Geelong's second and third rounders, to use on Lamumba and Frost.

Did they read my post of 10 minutes ago?

Posted

Seriously doubt that.

Who would pick him up before that?

Would Collingwood?

I think that it is fraught picking up blokes who have committed elsewhere - in the draft, especially ones with his history.

theres a nice logic to that

Maybe we could redraft him and force him to play in our forward line alongside Hogan and Dawes as was our original intention!

Nope, I heard yesterday that we asked for their first pick and they knocked it back. They offered is their second rounder and we don't feel it's enough. Second and third makes sense for the players we want.

Colonwood aren't getting our second rounder for a player they don't even want.

If he went into the draft, he would get to 33.

No he wouldn't.

GWS or St Kilda will probably snap him up with their 2nd round pick.

I feel, Geelong are holding us up a bit with nothing for Clark as yet.

Posted

I think a fair trade for Clark would be Geelongs 1st and second round pick for Clark and our second round pick, which as it stands 14 and 35 to us for 23 and Clark to them add in our fourth round to get this done. This would be a good result

Was just told that the deal has been done

Pies receive Cats 2nd round

Cats receive Clark

Dees receive Harry O

Edit: Was told by an pies supporter

I really doubt that.

Luke Ball got to ND30 and he was a better player, with a more acceptable history of injuries and personal issues.

Geelong's 2nd round 35 for Clark about right

Probably not enough for Lumumba who finished 4th in Pies B&F

Our 2nd round 23 too much for Lumumba

So 23 + 35 for Lumumba + Pies 2nd round 30

I think Clark is worth more than Lumumba - I can probably accept at worst that it should effectively be a straight swap.

Now I know all of Mitch's history but his upside is enormous - a potential gun key forward in the prime of his career.

At their best Clark is simply more valuable than Lumumba, but because of his history of not playing and Lumumba's history of playing consistently I can accept that that brings Clark's value back down to Lumumba's.

But giving more than Clark for Lumumba doesn't sit very comfortably with me.

Agree with this. I believe we could get 33 and another pick from Cats for MC with the second one going for Frost.

That way we get HL and Frost for MC. It is not impossible as Cats are saying he could be a star for them. They have missed on Chip and we can force MC into the draft.

I suspect this is the hold up, Red. We're looking for two picks.

Well yes. But then again ... no.

Lumumba is Mr. Consistency, both in the way he plays, and in keeping himself on the field. Has missed very few games. So, a useful Lumumba in the hand, who you'll get a very solid 20+ games out of a year, verses (in the bush) an A-Grade player who may or may not even get onto the park.

I could live with Lumumba receiving a higher pick.

Well played, if that's the case. Always open on over and above what you expect and most of the time you end up getting what you want, which is somewhere in the middle. In this case it sounds like a 2nd and 3rd rounder.

Bit Like comparing Commode hsv with a Ferrari.. On the first glance youd be taking the ferrari....... and then looking for a 2nd car when its at the mechanics !!

its all about getting on the park and doing something

Evidently it's fraught picking up Clark - even when he's committed to you.

Pies have said they think it's best that Lumumba moves on for both parties, they have made their decision and whilst they wont off load him for nothing they really can't justify now asking for a high pick

"I think when you go through those times ... I mean I had to work out – H and I both had to work out – if we thought that we had a relationship that could continue," Buckley said earlier this year.

A year on, Buckley has decided that the contracted premiership player should look at his options to play elsewhere next year

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
