Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Planned MFC list rebuild

Grand New Flag

Recommended Posts

This is not new stuff.

We get anxious and excited over a rebuild (which has been happening since 2000, tbh) and we marvel at the (potential) hard nosed approach that a new coach will take.

Can PR deliver? Will he cop heaps of backlash if he trades a Grimes? or a Watts? or a Trengove? or if he shoots Bambi?

Be careful what we wish for, D'landers.....I reckon the club is on its final roll of the dice....

Dean Kent is a great kick

For some reason pathetic kicking has spread like Eboila through our team over the seasons 2nd half

I think it may be to do with the players tiring in what is the the first season of a new gameplan that demands 2 way running

Kent is an interesting one.

He has tools to be a good player (quick, strong, tough, generally good kick, generally good hands) but as a MFC player, he can go the other way too.

Def keep but he needs a bigger tank and quality coaching (can do the good things really well but some of the simple things, he just doesn't put enough care cause it's a simple kick/handball)

What exactly does supporter backlash at MFC look like?

I'd suggest Nath Jones is untradeable. Everyone else is surely on the table.

All we know at the moment is Roos' history at Sydney, where they have built a super list on the back off

- Not being overly concerned about high draft picks

- Trading both for big trades and little fish trades

- Trading out players who aren't performing - take former first round draft picks Veszpremi, Johnstone, Lamb (even if he went PSD to GWS) as an example

In fact Sydney may well have found the market for trading out guys who aren't performing but have value for guys who can perform or want to perform but don't have value if that makes any sense.

They take the guys like McGlynn, Kennedy, Mattner, Shaw, Derickx, Laidler who for whatever reasons can't find games at their original clubs but have the right attitude and trade out guys who have reputation and value based on draft pick status but aren't living up to it.

That said it's the culture of recruiting and developing that makes them good not just magical deals.

How often in a post do we hear the words "in a couple of years" "a couple more preseason" in another 50 games " etc

Now Im not having a go at those who utter them but they are what you say when you know bloody well the current situation is rubbish and you pin all hope on what 'might' be..Not even on what is LIKELY to be , just what maybe happen if all our cards fall right and planets line up etc

We need to passionlessly weigh up our situation and trade and draft for today... Get this team going yesterday. If we do'nt its just futile to even contemplate a tomorrow.

I'm sure the Club will be VERY careful about who goes and who comes. It'll be novel.

I wouldn't trust any other Coach to know what stinks, Re culture, & what doesn't... Roosy will know whats Off like the proverbial prawn in sunshine, & what is the real McCoy...

we have had generations of going for the fools gold & not for the real gears the grind out the miles.. this has left us as Downhill Skiers in a hard new AFL world where congestion rules the field & there is nowhere to run & hide.

We've become downhill skiers over near on 50 years, & this is where we keep stumbling, & why we cannot take the final hurdle even with highly skilled sides on the field.

We all lost so much that day in the 60's when the politically correct administrators of the time, Shot our Great leader out of a Jolimont Cannon... we've never been the same ever again.

.... we have to shed this politically correct snake skin that strangles us, & get fierce... get rid of any soft corner in our house, & start making it the hard way.

Apart from destroying the morale of the playing list, Watts, Grimes, Trengove and Toumpas along with Mckenzie and Evans are all under contract for next year, if we decided to trade any one of these players and they were unable to earn the same dollars at a new club, the MFC would have to pay the difference in each case for the ensuing year and this amount would also be included in the MFC salary cap.

I can assure this is not going to eventuate.

Some media person or past player ( who would have no idea of coaching or list management ) waffles off at the mouth just to gain a bit of attention and the sheep follow in droves.

If any one believes this will eventuate they have got sh*t for brains

I wouldnt be sure of that , not for one moment. Things have to happen and they need to happen now. . If Watts moves the club will ensure it doesnt cost us , as to others...small bikkies to unclog a list. Commonly called the cost of progress.

Do you really think he might trade Tyson and Hogan?? Really?

Thanks for all the reply's. Interesting views that I thought worthy of debate.

For the record I don't believe that these player have been offered as trade bate. 1stly its too early, 2ndly this would have the danger of destroying (again) the soul of the club. However, I do believe there is probably some truth to the rumour in that I believe Roos is looking to recruit 5 mature players whilst securing as many top 20 picks as possible................ this is what any intelligent coach in his position would do.

I believe the reporter has taken a statistical guess on what Roos is aiming to do and then made up who was to be offered to make that happen. In other words I believe its a made up, beat up story.

In fact the more I think about it the more I am sure that there is no story here, I intend to get back to you all after I have heard word from inside the club.

I hate the whole idea but I am a [censored] when it comes to trading out footballers - having said that - you keep doing the same thing you will keep getting the same result.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
