Changes v GWS - Round 21 @ MCG

What

Recommended Posts

Will be interesting to see the GWS changes since the perception seems to be that they have put the cur in the rack for 2014 and want Petracca desperately (or need pick 2 for a trade?)

No change for the Demons I reckon

Although Salem might get a gig at someones expense, perhaps JKH or Bail who was subbed.

Why is everyone so certain we'll win this?

I can see Demonland going into melt down this time next week if we play like crap.

I reckon no change. Maybe Salem comes in for a Bail or M Jones?

I didn't really think Pedo would've made a difference last night. Gawn provided much more value.

I believe that Pedersen's injury will keep him out for more than the one week.

Salem should come into the side if Jack Grimes isn't ready.

Otherwise, our line up should be fairly stable.

Expect GWS to ring in a few changes after their poor form against North. Several heads could roll or possibly be injured to ensure they make a fist of winning the Petracca Cup. I expect Paul Roos to respond by going more defensive than ever and the result to be decided by a penalty shoot out at the end.

would be epic if he played but he hasnt played a game all year and will surely come back through Casey?

Meh, he'll get less of the ball playing in a Melbourne forward line than at Casey.

Probably an easier transition from injury.

Also the only chance we have of getting more than 25 people there.

Playing Hogan would be a nice touch but I doubt that the club would go to such extreme lengths of rushing someone in like that - let's see who was the last guy we rushed in for a debut - JW.

But I've been saying for three weeks no Roos should start Watts as the sub. The reason is that if he drops him, it ends uo being a huge story about how Roosy has lost faith in him and media has a field day. By making him sub, his demotion gets lost in all the game-day stuff and if comes on and makes an impact then Roosy can explain it as a planned move because of a long season.

Grimes will come straight back in if he passes a fitness test - he didn't do hardly anything at all on Thursday so I doubt he will be right.

Pedersen will be considered but with Gawn firing, unless they are going to drop Garland, there's no spot for him.

The only other change I'd like to see is Salem and I'd prefer he played down back - another thing I've been banging on about is how we are the only side in the AFL with a back six that are all right footers - hence we struggle with precise kicking down left side of park unless Dom floats back. Salem tackles well, he's not a bad mark for his size and we all know he can kick.

Obviously if we get Malceski the problem's solved a bit but the Hawks have five left-footers in their back seven - Duryea, Suckling, Hodge and Gibson and Birchall - could be something in why they do that.

Pederson was dropped for Gawn so even if fit I see Gawn holding his spot

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
