Priority Pick

Yeah, we're 'better'. 'Better' has put us to a regular wooden-spooner rather than one of the worst sides ever.

Needs to happen in some way. Probably end of first rounder. People will whinge about 'handouts' and standing on our own two feet, but one of the best coaches in the modern era can only win four games with this lot.

I don't know when the decision gets made, but if we don't finish bottom we'll finish 17th. Frawley will walk, so we'll end up with 1-2 or 2-3. We'll then have a second round pick at around 20.

I can't see the AFL giving us a priority pick when we've already got that.

Can't wait for us to lose Frawley and get two first rounders to mask our need for more quality.

We'll lose a quality big bodied experienced player and be 'compensated' with a potential Lucas Cook. Gee, free agency is great for struggling clubs isn't it?

I don't wonder why the crowds are down. It's because only 4 teams can win the flag by the end of October when lists are lodged. The league made a huge mistake putting free agency in at the time it did after multiple compromised drafts. In 2 years time they'll be trying their hardest to deny its impact but the only clubs that will have moved up the ladder will be those that got handed picks in compromised drafts. You can bet that us and St Kilda aren't going anywhere as good side will keep plucking players from us.

Meanwhile Chip will go play for a top 4 side on serious money. And why exactly should I pay when I go to the footy?

I'm over it. It's a flawed system that doesn't protect the people that actually pay for it.

We are owed or due for a back-ended one by the AFL. The reasons they gave for not giving us one last year, have played 0 games for us this year.

By their reasoning, we won't be given one this year either. Their logic will be, in 20 years time we'll eventually improve.

pick 2 or pick 3 is way overs for Frawley, so I wouldn't be holding my breath about the AFL coughing up a priority pick on top of that. Despite the disaster than unfolded today we have probably shown enough improvement and been competitive (at least on the scoreboard) in most games, 4 wins and 7 losses under 20 points. We won't get one.

the main reason they didnt give us a PP last season was because we had Mitch Clark coming back.

so then he AFL hypocrites can hand over the PP now or they are dirty liars

if they stuck to their rules and their word (ha!), we will have picks 2, 3 and 4 this draft

Or what? They'll never post on Demonland again..... Those dirty AFL scombags..... true to their word.

I'd take an end of first round or stay of second round.

Assuming Frawley leaves, it would give us:

Pick 2

Pick 3

Pick 21

Pick 22

Pick 40

Pick 58

Pick 76

I would then try and trade at least one of the first two picks for a player and a pick, even if it bumps us back to pick 15-20. The main reason is we need to bring a 8+ players in.

A compo pick for chip is no justification for not granting a op

Ultimately we lose a senior key defender and leader for an unproven talent

The priority is dead. Move on. Stop asking for help. Let's gtow some balls and attack. This defensive style is absolute crap.

Only one slight issue with this....

Whose going to be taking the game on with ball in hand and put the fear into opposition clubs with their pace and skill?

Grimes, Terlich, Bail, Riley, Tom McDonald, Tregrove, Toumpas, Struass, Tapscott, Matt Jones, Fitzpatrick, Spencer, Byrnes, Clisby, Evans, Nicholson or Jordie McKenzie?

The prosecution rests.

Well if we don't get one I think we need to go on the offensive and take our own by using the PSD to take a player from another club, no trade, no compensation...

Hasn't the club tried that in previous years? The answer is yes and I can't think of of one worthy player coming our way.

Definitely we should be applying for a Priority Pick - stupid not to! After 8 years on the scrapheap we need to get better quickly - and the AFL needs us to get better quickly - if we're to build a new generation of supporters. As far as drafting and development goes we're under new management and judging by last year's effort they seem to know what they're doing - so I'd back them to use it wisely.

As for Frawley going (assuming that he is) then any compensation pick we'd receive is a separate issue.

2014 - 4 wins

2013 - 2 wins (GWS, Bulldogs)

2012 - 4 wins (2 v GWS, 1v Gold coast, Essendon)

2011 - 8 wins (oh heady days!)

2010 - 8 wins

2009 - 4 wins (PRE goldcoast/gws - and a loss to richmond after the siren

2008 - 3 wins

2007 - 5 wins (inc the "kruzer cup"

8 seasons. 38 wins out of 176 matches at 21.59%

our list is not crash hot either as expansion teams and free agency (and poor drafting choices) have left us without talent.

give us a first rounder behind our first pick but tell us we have to trade it so we get a ready-made player in.

One thing that will count against us is the potential recruitment of Jeremy Cameron.

The afl will not be happy about him leaving the giants, and especially unhappy about copping the other clubs sooking because they gave us the pick to get him.

What is this bullsh-t about us getting Cameron? Where is it coming from?

Yeah, a bit early on that one, SPR. Absolutely no certainty Cameron is on his way here.

No... It doesn't matter if pick 2 or 3 is overs for Frawley. It's about the consistency...idk the specific reasons why they didn't give us a PP last year but their decisions clearly haven't been justified i.e. Clark not playing etc. If they don't give us a PP this year, then the

Priority pick is gone...otherwise IF the AFL is consistent then we should get a PP despite our minor improvements. The idea of us having 3 picks in the top 10 seems pretty ridiculous (what a conventional supporter of another team would say) but that shouldn't change anything because one of the reasons why we have them is because of one of our key players is leaving and the other one is ainevitable circumstance of being a [censored] AFL team. I say we deserve a PP. In fact deserve isn't the right word.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
