I cna't see Roos leaving without pointing a successor which fits exactly what he wants.......

Would be very happy to hear Roosy has re-sgined though

I sense its all in hand, wich hand? maybe atmo the 'right' doesn't know what the 'left' has in its gr asp ?

possibly a very tangled Web s been spun ?

If,,, my deductions are close, I don't want to say anything directly, that may throw a spanner into the mix. so I'll just be loose & cryptic.

My source (who has been right about everything thus far) has informed me that melbourne will be targeting Brett Ratten as Roos' successor.

Good outcome if true.

Ratten was by far our best midfield coach (2004) we've ever had.

Interesting. Would fit with the comments Roos has made about the importance of experience and passion for the role. Ratten has had both senior and assistant coach experience and was very, very unlucky to get the bullet from Carlton. Instructive that the best club in Victoria and reigning premier snapped him up. Has not been out the game since finishing as a player has he?

Also he knows Melbourne. I get the feeling that unlike Bomber he would be ok with playing second fiddle fro a couple of seasons. I reckon it might work.

I still think Dew must be a chance though.

I lost too many cups of coffee that way reading Dee-luded's posts so I put him on ignore.

But I visit him just for fun sometimes....

Roos will probably stay the 3 years only because he doesn't want to go down as a failure.

He has a massive EGO, and loser doesn't sit well with him.

harsh (but accurate)

Don't think Roos has a massive ego at all. Humility is more his style. I think he likes being part of a footy club and developing young players on and off the field. He said that he would be happy to get the club back on track and leave someone else to finish the job and take the glory. If you want ego look at Mick Malthouse.

wouldn't ego push a man to stay longer?

No ego at all; just self confidence etc.

Think he feels responsible for not getting the anointed one 11 months on. Obliged to stay on the for the 3rd year due to this.

Either the coach will come from within, or like I said 6 months ago, it will be a Sydney Swans product (Kirk etc...) as Roos has Sydney-fied Melbourne.

OK, after watching Footy Classified after I posted this topic I began to wonder about the accuracy of the comment from the Club so I tracked down the number from the person that rang me yesterday and just rang him again to get a confirmation.

At least I could confirm that he was ringing from the Club which was a relief as I was beginning to wonder if it was a scam.

He based the comment largely on a Matt Burgan article from 22 May headed "Three years for me as coach: Roos" If you read the article it doesn't say anything different to what Roosy has been saying all along. He said he apologised if he was misleading what the situation is but that's what that article says which actually it doesn't. Here is the link for the article although you won't find anything out from it that hasn't already been said. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-05-22/three-years-for-me-as-coach-roos-

Other than that he said he cant confirm that Roosy has actually signed but has had general conversations within the Club that the plan is for him to coach a third year. That doesn't mean he has signed yet.

So, sorry for starting this topic with what I thought was reliable information directly from the Club. For what it's worth like most here, I'm sure Roosy will sign for the third year but clearly that doesn't come from a reliable source.

Still think 3 years is a cert ;)

Unfortunately bb when it comes to the MFC nothing is a cert

Not sure about that. Disappointment and crushed hopes seems pretty certain to me

It's been a long haul but I think there has been more positives than negatives this year. Things are lookn up ^

It must be a challenge for you to act so out of character...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
