GAME DAY - Round 16

Recommended Posts

Fremantle by 27, i expect a massive effort from our boys but the difference in class to be obvious and ultimately the difference.

Lets face it Freo is not likely to be worried about melbourne, their coach can fire them up as much as he likes the players will still be saying to themselves we are playing Melbourne, whats the problems. This does give us a chance to be far more competitive, the issue for the Dees as always is can we put 4 quarters together and can we minimise the number of turnovers. If yes to these two things we have a chance, if we fail in either we will loose.

Limiting the turnovers, and emphasising movement around the stoppages are the keys for the Dees.

But like in many games this year, we lack class against Fyfe, Pavlich, Ballantyne, Hill and I am unsure how we will go against Sandilands. Gawn is only a few cms shorter but hasn't got the body size and experience.

Freo by about 30.

Luckily Hill is not playing!

Freo don't tend to blow teams away.

Hopefully we put in a 4 quarter effort.

4 quarter effort should be a given... But we tend to take 20 minute naps each game.

And I have to go out tonight ... Making polite conversation while trying to check the score on my phone under the table cloth. Them by 5 goals. Jodie to have a good game, Colin to kick 2 and Watts to struggle.

If we get up I might just try the old "pull the table cloth off without disturbing the cutlery" trick!

Go Dees!

Dom Barry is our sub. Michael Apeness, who comes in for Pavlich, will debut. Morabito the sub for Freo. #AFLDeesFreo

No changes for us, but Freo skipper Matthew Pavlich is a late withdrawal #AFLDeesFreo

wow that could change things. Massive loss for them.

Pavlich and Hill out

Will be disappointing to lose this

That only leaves them with Sandilands and Fyfe and Mundy and Barlow and ……..

We make poor decisions without the best pressure team in football to play against. I hope we bring a strong effort but my gut tells me this could be ugly.

Massive chance today- heading away as a group pulled us together against the crows. expect a lot of tackles and many negating roles to be effective, last man standing and a low scoring win from the demons.

I think if they had sandilands out then id be suspicious. Maybe Frawley will go back to the forward line now.

I wasnt serious :)

I think we could win this, but to say it would be disappointing to lose just beause Freo have two of their very very long list of star players out is laughable.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
